I went up to CMP today to check out the racing. Finishing order Was Vic, Jens, Cobetto, Jon Allen and I believe Mike Davidson. I’ll let them give their race reports when they get back.

Had to leave the track today before the results were posted for the Sunday race.
Does anyone have a race result sheet with them they can share?
It was an incredible weekend. The Mid-Atlantic guys are a very talented group…I was honored to race with them. This was a confidence building weekend for me; getting back on the horse so to speak after the Atlanta disaster. I feel like I won the race to bring the car home unscathed.
Skip won today with Davidson in second. I’m not sure of the rest of the finishing order or if any DQ’s were handed out. I finished in 11th and had a very boring race since I was just off the mid pack pace. I did get to watch a good bit of racing though.
Thanks to everyone for the great hospitality(beer) all weekend.
Vic - sorry, I forgot to tell you about the BeerWreck sticker curse. . .
This was an awsome weekend. I qualified 2nd for the race on saturday in the rain. I was in first by turn one and got passed by cobetto in turn 8. I then spun at about 100mph going into 10(not fun). I got back on track and was in 15th and had to work very hard to get back up to 5th where I finished. Today I started in 7th and was directly behind brandon, I got a good start and got brandon on the inside of turn one. It looked like something happened to brandon but i’m not sure. I then spun again on the first lap of the race in turn 10 AGAIN and went a little further off this time and got back on track back behind vic in 5th. Going into turn one everything was fine, turn two I started to see johhny (leader) getting really loose then in turn three everyone was sliding. Johhny did an amazing job keeping the car off the gard rail between 3 and 4! Turns out a porshce dropped alot of oil right on the apex of 3(not cool). Right after all of this happened and I was then trying to tip-toe through 4 and 5. Vic and jens got loose and I sneaked by on the inside of 6 and 7 to move up to 3rd. I then battled johhny for a lap or two and got a good run on him coming out of 11 and managed to gain a position. I did everything I could to keep jens behind me to finish second. Skip was gone with the wind and I have no idea how he managed to go through turn 3 flat out after the oil was dropped but he did and he drove and awsome race. Everyone was driving very well on a track that felt wet.
I have some great video footage from Sunday’s race from Brandon’s car. Shows the early race action and lots of really loose cars going through three.
Only problem is it’s 8mm analog that I’ve got to convert and then get posted… I’m going to try… it’s definitely worth a look… The action in 4-5-6 is awesome in first two laps…

Like Gasman, this was a a confidence building weekend for me as well. After a few offs in practice and qualifying on Saturday, my goal was simply to stay on track and try to get more familiar with the track and bring the car home in good shape.
I was slow but… Mission accomplished.
This was my first race and my first time to CMP. The racing for me was non existent. I thought for a second I might be able to mix it up in Sundays race. But the oil on the track kind of freaked me out. I thought there was something wrong with my car or my tires. By the time I figured out what was up… I was left in the dust (both literally and figuratively)
All in all. I had a great time. I need to soften up the rear sway bars some, log a few more clean races and I think I might be able to bring a little more competition to the back of the pack.
Next race… Rockingham
Hey Guys, I had a great time meeting all of you and really appreciate the information that was shared to help me along with my build. Thanks, Wes Jones
Looking forward to video footage, especially in the wet!
Do you guys take T3 flat in the dry?

The easiest way to do this is to borrow someone’s digital 8mm camera with a firewire port and extract through the firewire interface with something like Windows Movie Maker.
Another great race weekend in the books. Thanks to all the folks who made the weekend enjoyable. The BeerTech guys (Scott and JP) are a blast to hang with and its too much fun watching them interact with the Salazar boys (Steve, Victor and Eric this time). Johnny Allen came all the way down from outside Philly - wow, THAT’s commitment. Keith and Brandon were there as were comp school fellow students Steven Canterbury and Travis Wilson. Al Taylor was his usual hilarious self. Whoever suggested stand-up for Al was dead on! It was also great to meet the Gasman - Steve Foushee, another cool Nasa SE racer. Skip Bennett, Paul Marshall, Ed & Mike Davidson, Laura Patton, and the rest of the Spec E30 gang are a wonderful group of people that are a genuine pleasure to spend time with.
This weekend I owe alot to Jens Scott who was kind enough to help me with some excellent advice and good friendship - thanks man!.
Well for the last remaining SU in the group I must say I really enjoyed Saturday’s racing. CMP is set up to minimize the deficits of a tired E-motor. I got to see the backs of you guys for 2 additional corners. I learned more about car control and had a blast running.
However, I broke the zipper on my suit Saturday and even though I was able to get it closed for Saturday’s race - I was not able to do so Sunday. Being a cautious guy, I decided I wouldn’t take any unnecessary risks - but I was angry at myself for leaving the old suit (now backup) at home. Entirely my fault - lesson learned.
So the suit goes back to Sparco for repairs after it returns from the dry cleaners and I look forward to June 23 in Summit.
Thanks again to everyone for a fantastic time!

I was a little surprised to come down the straight and see the checkered. They never threw the white flag, I wonder why.
I noticed that as well, seemed strange.
I just wanted to thank Earl, Al, and Johnny for their help with keeping my car running. Plugs from Johnny on Saturday since my car is such a pile and burns oil like a smoke stack thus fouling the plugs, and an upper coolant hose from Al after my fan lunched mine. Without you guys my weekend would have seriously stunk. Thanks again.
JP - if you want to ditch that fan (and I think you should), let me know. You can put one in like the pic in about an hour (without removing the radiator).

Hi Guys,
I’m learning (painfully slowly) how to video track sessions and then post. This one is quite large since I didn’t compress it. Next time I will for sure.
Here’s what a start and first lap look like to a rookie in an eta…

Erle,
nice video. You tube is good for very short video’s - I think they allow you 5-10 min max (or there abouts IIRC). You can post longer video’s on Google video - http://video.google.com/

Ok here’s mine from sunday. I edited it down for size. I have the video from saturday but the camera was in a bad position so it doesn’t look that good. I’d love to see what the new car looked like from another cars perspective if anyone would care to share.
The top five were all pretty close as far as lap times went.
Skip Bennett: 1:58.931
Mike Davidson: 1:58.954
Jens Scott: 1:58.915
Brandon Smith: 1:58.050!!!
Johhny Allen: 2:00.373
Then vic had a quick lap at 1:58.746

Mike, Great pass on the last lap. Nice driving! I’d give the song selection a 3, I couldn’t dance to it.
