I guess I’ll start… Pun intended. My head is getting so big it’s not going to fit in my helmet. JP, can I borrow yours or did you sell that too?

I had an awesome weekend on the scoreboard, not so great seeing what happened to my fellow gladiators. However, here’s what I’m attributing my weekend’s success to… your results may vary:

The Skull Gearshift Knob
For $8 at Pep Boys, you too can have the amazing spiritual power of the skull take you to the podium…

Stickers
While no one can argue the validity of putting stickers on your car in relation to increased speed, my recent study this weekend concludes that raised lettering on 888’s drastically reduces lap times.

The Colony Inn
The uncomfortable pillows, the lack of working batteries in the remote for the 13" color tv and missing shampoo all came together for overwhemlingly luxurious stay to provide the mental and physical stamina needed for back to back podium finishes.

Motivational Speeches
Warren Turnipseed told me after the first race that I was now kicking MikeSkeen.com of MikeSkeen.Com’s a$$ in season points.

Democross
Skidpad excercises and looping it in the kink during qualifying at 103 mph have nothing on the democross in terms of real world training. Ironic Side note: Thanks to Travis Wilson for removing the brake markers and picking up the tab so that I didn’t have to.

Since results like these will never happen again, I am going to talk more sh!t between now and Road Atlanta it’s going to make JP sound like a humble mute.

[JP providing comedy entertainment after the awards]

Craig G: "JP, are you going to keep coming back to each event this season and ramble on about how you won all the time and how awesome you are?"
JP: “Of course. It just doesn’t have the same impact on Facebook. Do you really think my wife wants to hear any of this crap?”

I’ll post the videos later of how bad I sucked at the starts… that I was even in control of (and lack of overall race craft). Good work to Dave White and Jim Robinson for taking the E2 crown on Friday in my car. Congrats to Brandon Smith for Sunday’s beat down (ego and finish).

This one speaks for itself. I think we all know what Jones is trying to tell us.

Are you kidding? He just got that one to match EVERY OTHER PANEL ON THE CAR. From what I could see in my rear view mirror. BAM! :stuck_out_tongue:

We need to add a few 0’s to the 50/50 rule for Brian’s car. Does it look okay from 500 feet Brian, or do we need 5000 feet?

#7

He already has spare black panels, but why would he change them if he plans to contiune hitting everthing/one?

#8

Who got the 6th place?

#9

The window still works as good as ever so no changing doors for me!

Ill bang it out a little, but it still works.

So far very funny posts!

I certainly expected it. Who has some pictures of the “modified” mirror? THAT was funny!!

Ill post more about the incident a little later when I have more time.

#10

Brian won it, for a little while at least…

#11

Not Jones. By the way, I was trying to point out the subtle clue Jones was dropping us via the pink mirror, not the meticulous nature of his body work skills.

#12

Compliments from our friends from Florida who seem to be a shoe in for the Southeast… too bad they didn’t get to meet the shining jewel of Al Taylor during their visit:

#13

I think the pink mirrors thing was already common knowledge.

#14

Brian, be sure to get a tetnus shot before you pack it up to send to Brandon.

Well here is the rundown of my weekend. Saturday’s race we have discussed a little but here is the video of the start from my in car cam. First of all let me say I am very disappointed that this happened. It really takes all the fun out of it when cars get wrecked. I want to post this here and discuss it to learn from it. Maybe we can all learn from it. I certainly dont claim to know it all and Im certainly capable of making mistakes. please feel free to express your honest opinions on this situation.

We reviewed the tape in the timing and scoring tower and between Miguel, Tom and Pantas it was decided no one was at fault and no penalties were given. Tom and Pantas did feel that it was a “divebomb” manuever. I disagree with that but agree that a better decision could have been made on my part.

From my perspective: I feel I had a good run on Robert so I went to the inside coming out of three. I feel I was far enough along side to have deserved the position before the braking zone for turn four. It is clear in the video that the contact was my right front corner and the left side/rear of the Panther. I obviously had a tighter radius going around the inside and had to slow more than Robert and this put him a little further ahead of me. I was all the way to the inside of the track and Robert went to the Apex. Not enough room for both of us.

Did I have the right to be there? maybe, maybe not. At that point it didnt matter I was there. Was it a bad decision on my part to take that line to begin with? probably, it ended in contact. Could a little more racing room been given by Robert? probably and we would have got through just fine. Like I said, no one was found at fault but I still feel bad about the whole thing. Hindsight is always 20/20. And this is racing.

Anybody get video of this?

I was DQ’d for passing Johan under double yellow out of T14 later in the race. Brandon, I still have the trophy, will you guys be at Road Atlanta?

Sunday: Surprise weigh in after qualy!!! All Spec E30’s weighed in (except for one red car…hmmm, who was that?)
I came in at a cool 2743. 7 lbs under weight. One gallon of gas!! Bummer! I qualified 5th but started dead last. 17th. In goes the spare tire for the race. I worked my way up to 5th though and had a lot of fun dicing it up with everyone.

See you guys at Road Atlanta.

I had fun racing with everyone this past weekend. Watching the effort put in to get Scott back on Track was awesome.

Even after all the mayhem in the races, I am still glad I will be racing with all of you in the SE.

My weekend went better than I expected. I was hoping to just get through unscathed, but was able to put down decent qualifying times. My only other time at CMP was last Feb. in HPDE 2 so I am very pleased with my results.

Sunday’s race was by far the most fun I have ever had in a car. Watching my video I really need to make myself harder to pass.

I was able to finish 6th on Sunday where do I get my “I was 6th” tshirt???

Saturday Race:

Sunday Race:

See everyone at RA!! Where I am faster!!!

Brian, Sorry my friend but you did ask for opinions. I have to say after looking at your video that it looks like you caused this accident. You had already passed the braking zone (without braking) for turn 4 if you intended to take the inside corner. There is no way you could have made this turn on cold tires this late. This is not the racing line so Robert had the line in my opinion. I’d say this was a high risk low probability move without question.

#18

No one loves ya’ll more then me, but a strict interpretation of the CCR is that a person has a right to be there when their front wheel is alongside the driver he’s trying to pass. If the front wheel isn’t quite there and the guy getting passed gives you room, he’s just playing nice nice.

#19

I would have made the same move, but it does put you on the outside for the carousel as you prolly would have had to give Robert the inside…

But the ? in this situation might be, did your taking that line cause your car to come out (doesn’t look like it from the video) or did Robert close towards the apex. That is one thing for everyone to consider, if you go inside someone always make sure you can make it without needing a lane and a half…

Greg, Thanks for posting your video and congratulations on your finish. FYI, my car hits the revlimiter a lot sooner than yours does.
