While not directly related, I know a lot of you like Chump Car/ LeMons type racing…
I did the ChumpCar 24 hours at VIR last weekend, in my trusty Alfa Romeo Milano Barchetta, first thing a full 24 hour race is a lot more work than a split race format. There was much less partying than at the LeMons races I have done. Now part of the reason for doing this race is I really wanted to run a “real” 24 hour race, so I didn’t really miss the partying part. There was much less BS at this event than any of the LeMons events, no BS black flags, penalties, Jay Lamm ego BS etc. There was one yellow flag for 2 laps during the whole overnight, and one of Tony Stewart’s cars blew up on the front straight on the 4th lap which caused an extended yellow but that was about it. The driving at the LeMons events and this event was pretty damn good, I got ZERO negative feedback from any of my drivers, there was very little damage to any of the cars. The organizers were a lot easier to deal with and VIR south was a great course for this event. I would definitely do another ChumpCar event although I think one 24 hour race a year is all I can handle, we did 747 laps to finish 13th, there were only five cars that did less than 100 laps, and I think 26 cars did over 400 laps which is pretty good. Stewart finished 8th or 9th, Johan Swartz of SE30 SE finished 10th.
