Car won't start after timing belt maintenance!

OK I’m pulling my hair out over this electrical issue.

I purchased new fuel pump relays and it still doesnt work. When I check with the relay out pin #85 which shows as ground back to control unit, it doesn’t show 0 ohms as if it’s a direct ground. I ran a test lead from base of socket #85 direct to ground and then the fuel pump came on with the ignition.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! If I read my Bentley correctly, the wire from FPR #85 should go back to the DME unit for ground. Any ideas?

Also should the fuel pump run all the time with the ignition on or just prime the line and cut off until engine is running???

Help!!! I’m just before giving up and hauling it to Motorsport Connections!

Keith,
I admire you for your determination but if you figure out your hourly pay rate I am sure you have spent way more on this issue than it would cost to have Motorsport Connections fix it. But what is it they say about hindsight? Good luck with it!

Ken,

You’re sounding an awful lot like my wife! I’m on a mission now and can’t be stopped…it’s turned into a quest! I can now map the complete electrical circuits for a E30 in my sleep!
