Can I have an explination as to the differances between a car that is set up for SpecE30 and one that has been running ITS with SCCA? I guess from what I have read here the ITS car would not be eligible to race NASA SpecE30 but would be able to race in a different class for NASA races. Once a car has been prepped for ITS would it be unreasonable to switch to SpecE30?
Car Classifications
If the car has been prepped to the limit of ITS, it would be unreasonable to switch. An ITS car should have coil-overs, chipped ECU, intake and exhaust mods that are illegal in SE30, 040-over pistons… There’s probably more, but just those items make it tough.
If the car is cheap enough that changing all that seems reasonable, the car has other major issues IMHO.
So can a SpecE30 car run ITS as well as Nasa SpecE30 races? Is it not done since a car prepped for SpecE30 would not be as competitive in ITS?
Depends…a full boat ITS car will have things not allowed in se30, such as fuel pressure reg., coil overs, air intake, sway bars(?) plus other small things. Change over is not hard as the cage rules are the same for both. SCCA does not require a center net nor do they date window nets so those probably need to be changed. That makes a good dual use car as you can change the ecu and tires and run somewhat competitively in SEDIV. Chuck
