BMW Swap Meet - Raleigh - Nov 4

#1

Carter had mentioned that Leith BMW, in Raleigh, is hosting the Tarheel Chapter BMWCCA Swap Meet in November and that it would be "impressive" if we could manage a SpecE30 corral with 5 or more cars.

Full details are on page 10 of the September issue of Footnotes (6MB pdf). Pertinent details below:
Date: Saturday, November 4th
Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Location: Leith BMW
5601 Capital
Boulevard
Raleigh, NC
Chapter contact: Gilbert Reynolds
(919) 233-1593

Leith BMW will graciously provide lunch and tickets for valuable door prizes to all who register…

The Swap Meet is for BMW CCA members and family, and their guests…

There will be a mini-concours for club member BMW’s. Shine up your latest ride and be prepared to show it off…

Please call Leith BMW at (919) 876-5444, ext. 312 to register. This will assure you of receiving your lunch & door prize tickets. Swap Meet sellers must RSVP to reserve display and car coral spaces.
I’ll be there, anyone else?

Dan:

I’m planning to be there and I’ll try to drag Carlton (and his car) there as well.

As we get closer, let’s get it organized so we can park the cars together. And I’m sure we would appreciate it if you will contact the right people to save a few spots for the Spec E30 race cars.

Thanks.

Any update on Carlton’s car?

We’ll check the fuel pump relay this weekend…and other items if that’s not it.

Just called Cindy at Leith… I reserved slots in the corral for 4 cars and said there would be 5 people.

I figure that we can twist the arms of Ken Neuhoff, Sasha and maybe David Herrington… and there’s Callahan Warlick, in Raleigh, who’s building what’s likely to become another SpecE30. (And maybe, if things are calmed-down enough, Al Taylor will grace us with an appearance.) :side:

I have an all-day review course for the Architectural Registration Exam on Nov. 4 so I’ll be in Raleigh all day, but unfortunately I’ll be sitting in a classroom at NCSU instead of preaching the gospel of SpecE30. My car’s a pig right now, anyway; the Bronzit might drive people away!

I can be there with my car if there is room. The only conflict would be if the NCSU vs. GT football game is early in the day. If its a night game then no problem.

#8

Ken:

If you’re at the game but don’t mind us using your car, we might go early and drop it off. Maybe even the night before.

We’ll keep a good eye on it during the day and we’ll help you get it home, even if we need to trailer it back to your house.

Carter,

You guys are welcome to use my car at the swap meet. I can get the car ther and hang out a while but I will probably have to leave early for the football game, just how early depends on the game time which has not been announced. We can talk more about it as it gets closer.

So, who’s coming? (Ken, the game’s at 7pm, but I figure you already knew that.)

#11

I plan on having my car there. I probably won’t be there in person all day but at least part of it. Anyone else coming?

#12

I’ll be there (already signed-up Carter Jr and me) and we’ll try to get Carlton there too.

Also, does anyone know of a local to Raleigh, NC source for GRM? I gave my "Spec E30 issue" to my Dad and I’d like to get a couple more copies.

Carter,

I have seen it at Borders and Book-A-Million. If you want to borrow my copy you are more than welcome.

Carter, I bet if you ask the folks at GRM for some copies to hand out they will fix you up. If not now (because the issue is current), maybe in a few months when it’s simply a ‘back issue’. They often donate old issues to car clubs as giveaway items as well as gift subscriptions.

I might be able to make it…of course my car looks like hell, might be a good place to sell it…hopefully the folks there will recognize that the e30 is a BMW…

Gabe at GRM was happy to send me an issue when the Postal workers (apparently) absconded with mine.

I’m sure that they’d have no problem sending your a few issues (and maybe even a few stickers) to hand out and display – it’s also not a bad time to ask about that PDF for the site…

Also the Newsstand by the Wynnsong cinema in Durham (off MLK and 15-501) would probably have it – it seems like they had every magazine known to man (and then some).

#17

Ken,

BTW, I’ll have four new-logo NASA stickers for your car (thanks to Chris and Laura).

I figure Al, Carter and Carlton (if he can get his car there) already have the new logo, from Nationals.

Thanks Dan but my stickers are less than a year old with under 500 miles on them.

That will be great. The new stickers look cooler anyway. Do I need to call Leith and reserve a spot for the swap meet. Will there be enough room for all the SE30 cars that show up?

#19

I spoke with Cindy at Leith BMW this morning and we have room for five cars. She asked that we be there by 9:30 to unload the cars.

Does anyone (Dan, Ken, Carlton, Al) have a conflict? If so, I can help get the car there and/or home for you.

Carter

I told Cindy that we’d have 5 cars total. I’ll be driving my car over – the joys of a street-legal race car.
