yeah, I considered calling my team “American Style Pale Lager Tech Racing”, but it just didn’t have a good ring to it (and I couldn’t make the vinyl fit the car).

But we should do it in good Bavarian…
How 'bout “Amerikanishe Weaselpiss RennFahren”?

Hopefully I spelled that right.

Chuck’s on the money with his RR comment.

M3Bill, what you’re missing is that there’s a huge difference between doing DE’s/driving and racing at these tracks. Racing at Road Atlanta for instance, in my opinion, is pretty weak… Very few places to pass. Most is done in braking zones, which is…yawn… lame.

Roebling is a good TwoWideTheWholeWayAround kind of place. Honestly, I’m sad that you’re going to have to wait a year before seeing the light.

Roebling also is a place where everyone seems to be pretty good… which makes for nail biters and a fun as sh!t weekend.

This was supposed to be a smack talk thread, not a smack talk about the track thread! WTF? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Geiger, the more I read your stuff…well, it’s just great stuff.

Since you’ve not been to Barber, I’d be honored to tell you all I know about the place. It will take a little less tha 1.50.

Regards, Robert (got to help you beat Robinson) Patton

I’m in for Barber and can’t wait! Save me a spot in the paddock.

I agree, Geiger is spot on most of the time. Craig, if you decide to go to Barber, let Robert show you the way around. He is absolutely the best instructor there is for that place. Let him show you just how much speed can be had through four and five. Those two turns are the secret to success at Barber.

I wish I could make Barber this year, my wife and I committed to a fund raiser last spring not realizing there would be a date conflict. Hope you guys have a safe weekend and a lot of fun.

Actually, Robert, I like RA quite a bit. As I learn more about it and my car, I can really appreciate the subtleties of the track from T3 to T7, through which there are numerous places to pass. T10a is a “balls” passing zone, as are T12 and T1.

RR is my favorite and the fastest track in the SE.

Barber is 8 miles from my home!! But, for me, it is too busy. You never have a moment to take a deep breath and the only place I can check gages is on the front straight as every where else you are setting up for a corner. However, the facility is fantastic and definitely a must see/race for anyone. Chuck

#68

OT: But I like RRR a lot. I thought it was fun for DE but racing there is a blast.
CMP is pretty good. New configuration earns it a few extra points.
RA is pretty good to. It’s still new to me but I see it could loose points over time.
Rockingham is alright. Not my favorite but it’s different and weird. I’ll be there.

While I’m pretty sure most of you guys would love VIR North or Full, I’d love it if we had an ALL Spec E30 race on the VIR South Course. I’d be willing to bet we could have a 30 plus field there. It would be in the middle for most Southeast and Mid-Atlantic drivers. South course is not a configuration thats run very frequently, so it would be a fairly level playing field.

I know Al’s a big fan…

So, who is doing the Enduro on Friday? Anyone need/want another driver for the team? As posted elsewhere, my car is disabled and won’t be ready for Barber. But… I will be there anyway and could turn a few laps…
See you all there.

#70

Jon, no enduro for me. Too hard on the car.

Without your ride, what will you be driving at Barber?

We’ll save a spot as it looks like we’ve got a great parking area. Your participation will make for a fast field.

The Official Barber 2008 6th Place Trophy for SpecE30:

Dave White, this would look really good on the hood of your I/JP car at BMWCCA Club Races. It shows your diversity.

I’m tired of giving these things to Travis and Al. Someone else please win it.

How many people are going? Only 9 are signed up as of the time of this writing. That’s super weak. Almost as weak as the bad a$$ m-f’er named M3Bill autox’ing, but not quite. I know, wrong thread, but it is smack talk.

I’m driving Robinson’s cheater car during the enduro. Hopefully that can make up for my not knowing whether to turn left or right.

Keep your fingers crossed fellow competitors. I have metal filings in my transmission that explain the missed shifts at Roebling…

Woohoo! At least a top 10 for me, but given my auto-x warm-up, I should be easily in the top 5.

That is one jim-dandy trophy from Geiger. Well worth the tow to compete for that piece of artwork!

Counting Skeen and Moses, and minus Stroup (who I think has head gasket issues and isn’t racing) who are both going to be coming, I count 11 SpecE30s and 16 Miatas. Anybody else think there is something wrong with this picture?

Where’s everyone else hiding out this weekend?

Group, we’ll have a visiting Norcal SpecE30 racer, Ron Harness, at Barber this weekend, helping his sons in HPDE. Let’s all give him a warm southern welcome!
I wish I could make it but I’m going to Barber to watch both my son’s run HPDE in Matt’s E30. It will be 95f in Alabama.

I’ll also get a chance to watch the Spec30 races and meet some of the South and East coast guys.

I’ll be back for the Infineon event at the end of June.

Good luck to you all. Damn, I’m gonna miss the racing !!
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THOSE COMING DOWN INTERSTATE 20!!!

I was just told by someone who has been that way recently that there is alot of construction, with reduced speed limits, going inside Alabama past the border. The Highway Patrol (or maybe local law enforcement) is hanging out there having a field day passing out tickets. Watch your speed through there.

I got a ticket a month ago driving to Talladega GP in Anniston from Nashville. I was one of 8 people pulled over in a 1/4 mile span (at the same time). Yes, they have been going nuts handing out tickets!

My ticket was on I-65, but I saw a ton of police on I-20 as well.

Slow down… save some gas!

I see Skeen decided to man up. Good for you!
