Barber Roll Call / Official Smack Talk Thread

#21

I’m going to read a lot into Robert’s post and say -

I’d rather have another RRR event then go to this place and its only 2 hours or so away.

Its expensive and typically not well attended.

Why do we keep going here? Last year just getting into the paddock was one of the worst cluster f__ks I’ve seen. The track tools make RRR look like a fun group to hang out with.

I may be in the minority and this will kick off posts about how great the R888s, spec exhaust and Barber is. But I think all of those things suck.
It’s better then 4 CMP dates.

None of this will stop me from kicking everyone’s a$$ though. Shake and Bake.

Kudos to Jim for being both crotchety and cocky in the same post. You’re beginning to sound like an arrogant Gasman!:stuck_out_tongue:

Jim, easy now…It is only once per year and this year we’ve got the primo parking area. Hang out with Patton, Pantas and Taylor instead of the Geeger crowd and we’ll treat you with the honor and respect you deserve.

On second thought…

Have fun,Robert Patton

Maybe Skeen will come now that Randy is going to race so he can redeem himself from the VIR loss:woohoo: Sorry Mike, whatever it takes to get you motivated to show. they are hollow victories when you don’t show.

BTW I drove like crap at barber last year. I was awful on sat. and a tad bit better on Sunday

I do what I can! Personally I hope Skeen doesn’t show up, I’m not above victories hollow or otherwise. There are no style points on the Toyo form, or a “who did you beat” section.

In fact I may still sign up for GTS8 and TTX just to get more stickers.

I had just signed up and the $309 for a track I don’t particularly like was making me grouchy. I’m shocked they don’t require a security deposit for your parking spot. Grass sure is pretty though, and that metal art is much better then Geegar’s cr@p.

Sorry getting grouchy again time to take the meds.

CMP, loser buys a 12 pack of winner’s choice. Bring your rule book, I’ll bring the protest forms.

I like Coors Light.

From the wording here, it would appear that JP’s favorite wine coolers will be considered a legal and valid payment.

I think this should be done right after the Sat. race.

#29

Jim, that would be three 4 packs actually, thereby making coolers ILLEGAL.

We’ll need a rules clarificatoin on that…Steve?

Why Saturday, nevermind I see where you are going; there won’t be time to reassemble his motor before Sunday? Got it.

JP, Who do you suggest we use as judge/jury for this little contest?

#31

Your pick. Cheaters can’t be trusted.

Don’t forget your dyno sheets. I’ll have mine.

#32

Tell you what JP, I’ll buy you a twelve pack of your favorite beverage for every single rule you can find that my car is not 100% compliant. I’ve already stated I don’t have any intention of protesting anyone for anything. I don’t need to see your car, it doesn’t matter to me if it is legal or not. I do however wish that it mattered to you.

Because it is a great track to run on. That’s why I love it. But I understand where you are coming from. I will likely not go to RRR again because I despise the facility and the track itself. It’s not worth the drive, by any stretch of the imagination.

maybe i’m reading this all wrong, but it seems like you are accusing JP of cheating…thats a really BIG deal in my book…

what exactly do you think is illegal on his car? or do you think he’s cheating because he constistenly finishes ahead of you? i’ve known JP for several years and i can tell you that he’s not a cheater…

JP has come a long way as a driver in the last year by working hard at improving his speed and race craft…he also replaced that POS smokebomb of a motor he had last year with less of a POS junkyard motor (not sure what you think is so illegal about it)…most of his speed this year has come from improving as a driver. the motor just helps him keep up with the other front runners that have good motors too…

if you really think he has so much motor, i can post in-car from his car at vir (with randy driving) where it’s pretty obvious how much some of the other cars are pulling him…

and btw, since i drive his car occasionally, does that make me a cheater too? all responsibility is on the driver last time i checked…if you ever think i’m cheating, please come to me at the track (preferably with protest forms in hand) instead of waiting to post about it on the internet…

sorry for the rant, i just take accusations of cheating VERY seriously…

This thread is full of opinions!!

Personally I’d rather race with a field in the 20’s+ then drive around a ‘nice’ track.

I couldn’t feel more different.

I can’t believe you don’t love RRR racing. I always have the best time there. IFU or not… it’s a great track IMO

#37

David, JP attacked me in another thread for quoting CCR’s and stating my opinion about rule interpretation. He said he was sick of me always quoting the rules and that “everyone bent the rules”. I said that I didn’t bend the rules and I think bending the rules is akin to cheating. Thats where we are with this little discussion and I would appreciate you staying out of it. JP and I are at odds on this issue and it does not involve you.

#38

Gasman wrote:

are you kidding? your posting on a public internet forum and asking me to “stay out of it?” wow…if this is just between you and JP, why not take it off line?

as far as you always quoting the rules…i could care less…what bugs me is that you come accross as though you think that anyone who interprets a rule differently than you is either wrong or a cheater (ex. the spare tire/ballast issue.)…not all rules are black and white…

ps- since this is the barber thread. looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend…even Damion

#39

Okay fine, welcome to the arguement. How do you feel about bending the rules?
Back to our regularly scheduled program…

It looks like the car is finally good, so I’m hoping to give others a good race at Barber. At Roebling Road the car went from last (no qualifing due to clutch)to 6th in Saturday’s race. Moses was the only one to pass during the IFU (Skeen and JP were too far back), but the driver (or car?) had nothing for him. Ditto on Sunday, as Moses and Skeen checked out leaving me to race with JP and Carlton. I had 3rd, but driver error (I screwed-up and went for a dirt ride) caused a drop to 5th, to battle back to 4th.

The point in all of this rambling…RR is a forgiving race track and we love it for that reason. Barber and RA are not forgiving (not to mention far away for NC folks)and the car count for this race reflect the obvious.Plus it was time to get back on-topic.

So, who else is comming out to race? Atlanta Guys? Is Mueller racing with White?

Hey for those two guys I’ve got a car to sell!

Regards, Robert Patton
Meanwhile, back at the OK Corral, Patton inquires “Who else is going to be at Barber?”

Damion’s admitted that he’s not good at Barber, White can’t drive a momentum car, Skeen’s staying home and I like Indy Jim’s assesment of the Toyo winners form. It has been so long since…well it has been a while. I’m looking for a good finish, and, well, that’s about as much trash as I can talk, 'cause I’m lousy at backing things up.

L Patton,Wilson,Taylor,Geiger,Robinson, they are the spoilers.
