I’ve built a number of engines and played around with all sorts of performance ideas. IMO getting in the high 150’s requires a fresh .020 build, a decked head, and cherry picking some parts.
Re. Greg (Moberg)'s dyno plot. It could use some more smoothing, I think that added a couple hp to the graph. Note also that there’s darn little dip in performance where you normally see it between 4400 and 5200. The lack of dip there makes it one of the nicest dyno curves I’ve seen. Having the “nicest” curve is something one might want to avoid.
Hard to know why Greg’s curve is so good. I’m certainly not attempting to cast suspicion on him, he’s a straight up guy. It’s just that it’s really hard to know for absolute certain that everything on a person’s car is legal. We get our parts from all over hell.
The way the new dyno rule works it won’t matter so much how a person got to 160hp. The rule works out nicely.
