Balanced Performance Dyno Day, Saturday 1/12/13

#1

Be there.
I’ve got 4 car’s to test and hope to get them all on the dyno.
Add the Kelly Childress and Chuck Taylor engine’s that we’ve assembled and you’ve got data points that would give any rules guy…well, data points.

The price is always reasonable as Jason kinda gives us the day to play.

Mark it on your calendar NOW. Maybe we’ll even talk Geiger and Robinson into showing up.

Who is in?

RP: 4 cars

#2

Heck, if you’re still around that evening we’ll all go to the local Mexican Cantina. Stay overnight at the house. Fred, come on down (again).Scott, come on up. Walsh, Lako, Peterman, Moses, who is in?

RP

#3

LOL, I just asked for this in the other thread! (Ask and ye shall receive). I’m in.

#4

Too long of a drive to dyno. I did dyno my relatively new motor last month, and I am more than willing to donate the dyno files to your collection.

#5

Thanks, Chris. Fred, we’ll see you there, if not sooner.

I set this thing up just for Michael Harness. I want to see the hp of the e30/5.0. Michael, get busy on your engine(s).

RP

#6

I need a bigger truck and a goose neck to get all my cars to the dyno day. I will be there either way. Thats 6 weeks to refresh or figure out what is wrong with the spec car.

#7

I’m tentatively in, need to get the floor of the new trailer setup (painted) first. Looking forward to finally getting numbers on the engine.

#8

Michael, use my truck and trailer when it is empty?
Seriously, how much stuff do you have to test? You are welcome to use the combo if you need to test lots of stuff.

Kelly, it will be interesting to see (if Chuck can make it) what HP the six cars that we’ve rebuilt can do. From the information…well there could be your spec e30 guidelines. Julio and Eric should be there with there cars so we can compare with the “professional” rebiuilds, their’s being done by Stickley and BRM (?) or something like that.

RP

#9

BRE is the group. IIRC they built motors a while back for some SpecE30 guys as well.

Eric’s Stickley numbers were posted at the conclusion of Nationals as they dyno’ed the podium finishers immediately after the race. We have some work to do to help him find more TQ.

#10

Great, just what Eric needs, more power.
Bring it out and we’ll swap some parts and see how it works.

RP

#11

Bonus to the dyno day:
Between Jason, and the Balanced shop guys, and the spec e30 co-director (that’s me) and, perhaps a surprise visit by Jim Pantas, we’ll do your NASA annual race inspection.

How’s that for an incentive to be there.

RP

#12

Robert,
How many runs can we expect and how much will it cost?

#13

Steve, we all jump-in and move the cars on and off pretty fast.I’m guessing 3 per hour.

Figure $75. (Jason never gives us a firm price, but his tech guy spends the day with us and we give him the money.)For the $75 you get as many runs as you can fit, i.e. pull off, cool down, try again, try again as needed.

Once the car is on the rollers you’ll do about 3 runs and then let someone else up. Come back, fit in, socialize, etc.
It is a real relaxed day.

If Pantas allows, I’ll do the inspections at no charge. Jason sez no charge if his shop does it, but if they do the inspection I’d slip Jason (or the mechanic) $40-$50 for their extra time on a Saturday.

Jason and his staff really are great to the group. If you guys come in from Macon, bring pizza for your late arrival. Beer too?

Things do change,I’ll call Jason for the specifics.

RP

#14

I am 99% sure I’m in for this. What time does it typically begin?

#15

Like the football or baseball game: it don’t start 'till you get there.

Probably about 9:00am

RP

#16

Looks like I’m talking to myself in this thread…

While you’re sitting around during this holiday season, it might be a good time to renew your NASA membership and race license.

See you on January 12.

#17

I hate I’m gonna miss this. I’ll be using the butt dyno at Savannah that weekend. The good news is I started my E30 for the first time in 11 months a couple weeks ago to put in antifreeze.

[carl spackler]So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.[/carl spackler]

#18

I’m gonna try and be there as well

#19

Steve add 2 more to Savannah. Going to be testing the E30 and dialing in the Sled.

#20

Sweet! Which E30? Not Brendan’s “Sled” is it?

Is Julio coming?

Be prepared for Richard and Kay to be in an especially good mood. She broke her hand a couple weeks ago.
