I like October 11 instead of this Thursday, much better. I just returned my trailer and off loaded the car.

I can’t find gas anywhere downtown by the way…

#3

Craig, thanks.

Okay, let’s hear from Jim R.

Others for October 11?

#4

Yeah 11th is better for me. Need to confirm with my social director / permission slip signer.

#5

Probably not a good time to dyno my engine.

#6

Jim/Craig, I just talked to Jason and he said that the 10/11 date is not good. So, pick a weeknight and we’ll go over to Balanced.let me know.770-844-9080

Jim, Craig, any others that would like to join:

Confirmed Saturday, 11/15 with Jason at Balanced.
Come out and see how close you are to the soon-to-be-published Spec e30 power line(s). Better yet, let’s see how close our cars’ numbers are 'cause they don’t mean nuthin without car-to-car comparison. And remember, figures don’t lie, but liars figure.

Should be fun.

In addition to Jim and Craig, who is going to show up?

Regards, Robert Patton

Robert -

What time?

Steve D.

#9

B!tchin. I’m there dude.

Robert, just let us all know what time to show up. How about Chuck “Radio Silence” Taylor? Robert, you bringing all three rides? Trying to see how many cars we can get there…

#10

I cant get there untill 2 o:clock… any chance it’ll still be rockin that late in teh day?

#11

“Radio Silence”? Maybe I’m just picking my spots.

Actually, now that I have a real job and work at a client site all week, can’t really hit the forums while using their computers on their networks. Bad form, sad to say.

Anyway, no can do, I’m out of town that weekend, but I’ve dynoed it enough times at BPM that y’all can still compare your’n to mine.

#12

Time of start…I’m thinking 9:00 until we’re done. I’ll get with Chuck Taylor to have whatever data might be available.I’ll bring all data from other dyno runs so that you can compare.

While there is talk about dyno junk on other areas of the board, you’ll quickly see what is normal, and what is not (although none of our cars fit that category), as you have multiple cars to test.

Regards, Robert Patton

#13

Here is my contribution to the group.

This is Mr. Junky on a dynojet last year. Although it’s on a different dyno, hope you can use it as a data point.

A previous dyno came out at 143hp with a same set up but at Balanced Performance. A 3-5 hp variation is normal depending on the weather and the dyno set up.

Stock everything (including a cat) except for a round air filter. 245K miles.

The blue line is stock. The red line is ebay chip.

Robert -

What’s the cost for this shindig? I need to see how much $ I have left for cheater parts.

Steve D.

#15

I’d love to get my car dyno’d on a system that’s seen other Spec E30’s, but 9hrs round-trip to do it is over the top. What about a dyno day on 4 or 5Dec?

We have any prayer of a mobile dyno next year?

How much does a quick run on a Balanced Performance dyno cost without the group discount?

Depending on how the next two weeks go (IF no ugly surprises) the “Coat of Many Colors” may show up.

I would be interested, What is the price of admission?

Be ready to spend $75 each. But, with a large group in attendance there is no telling how many runs you’ll get for your $75. Bring all kinds of things to test. We all want to get as close to the spec numbers as we can to keep the field level. This is the way a spec series should operate. You’ll see that there are no surprises and that the cars are within the same power area.

As an example: Mr. Junky’s curve looks just like mine on the Taxi. The exception is that mine has a high water level at 155 instead of Junky’s at 145.So, Mr. Junky, ditch the cat and see where that uncorked screamer checks in. Bring your tools and you can do it at the shop. I can bring a new/used bolt-on exhaust.
Seriously, what does a tight valve adjustment do for power? Low viscosity oil anyone?
Possibilities are endless.

Let’s prove to one another what the engines can do in a like-versus-like test.

PS - Sorry I missed the pricing from your earlier post. That’s a helluva deal. Thanks for organizing this.

You’re welcome.
There really aren’t any speed secrets. Only those willing to share and those that don’t. Share what you know, make the engine up to par with the competition and it’ll be a fun race series.
