Back from the paint shop

#1

Well, I picked the car up front the paint shop the other day so it’s time to clean up the interior, reinstall the dash and other bits (along with bitchin’ SPA gauges), fire system, seat/harness, etc. Then onto the mechanical bits…

Anyway, attached is a pic of the exterior. It should look really good once the graphics are applied. Good contrast to the Kazera wheels too.

Shakedown in 2 weeks, Simon’s first race in 3. Can’t wait…

#2

So close I can taste it, can’t wait for the graphics.

#3

looks like a new car!
But in spec e30, you’re supposed to pick colors like the building blue :woohoo: :stuck_out_tongue:

#4

Looks like a new e30!

So It looks like it’ll be ready for MidOhio, huh?

#5

Yeah, it does look pretty good I gotta say. I didn’t expect the paint to be as nice as it is. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty damn good for a race car, I’d say it’s better than 10/10 actually, maybe even 5/5 or 3/3. ; )

We wanted gray…you know, for the EMS color scheme. Heck I like it so much I think I might paint my car (whatever that ends up being) the same color.

I can’t wait to get the new wheels on it to see how they look, I’ll post a pic when I ge them on. Tires are due this week so I’ll get them mounted up and put a set on for piccies.

Cheers.

Yup I’m the only one signed up so far.

Gorgeous restoration.
However, this is a racing site. If your car isn’t painted at least one obnoxious color, I’m not sure you will be permitted on the track.
Still needing to paint mine and all the good colors are taken…

#8

I recently got mine painted, too…

I am only a cage and a few other items away from it being completed.

Elephant1, Nice looking paint.

M3Bill, Were you at RoadA a few weeks back? Do you have some other pics that show your wheels off? I am in the process of ordering my wheels and like the way yours look. Thanks, Wes

You guys have some great looking cars. I had a great looking car until a month ago when I hydroplaned into the guardrail on the front straight at VIR in the enduro.

Like everyone told me, take a picture of it right before your first race because, unfortunately it will never look better. I have seen at least 4 newly built and very nice looking cars get body damage in the past two races. It would caution everyone from spending too much money to make they’re cars look perfect. That should be left for your steet car.

#11

Yes, I was there with BMWCCA and NASA. What is your email address? I have some better pics of the wheels.

Very wise words. That’s my excuse for having a frankenstein car now. My first race car was a 1990 vw gti, it had a $2000 paint job…never again, wish I had that money back.

I agree Jonny. There are obviously two spec e30 groups. Those that have wrecked and those that haven’t wrecked yet.

One of my instructors once told me, don’t take anything to a race track that you can’t wreck and not cry. Wise words.

Here are two more shots that show the wheels better:

That car is far too nice to race W2W. If you want to sell it let me know. You should buy another, not so nice, car to build for racing, at least that’s my opinion.

Too late. I have spent too much getting it ready for SpecE30. All I have left to do is install a cage, fire system and kill switch.

Thanks Bill, email me at kg4lhowj at aol.com Sorry to hijack your thread Elephant1. Thanks, Wes

Man that looks nice. Don’t worry I won’t have a problem wrecking mine I just wanted it to look decent.

And the window tint?

There’s a fake picture of the Kazeras mounted in my Marines car thread.
