Hotlanta lived up to it’s name this weekend. This is going to be a really short recap, the other guys can fill in the rest.
Overall this was a pretty good weekend for team Myers and the newly engined SO racecar. Everything runs so far, just need to work on getting all the guages going properly.
My dad drove the car on Saturday, some guy in practice tried a Bonzai pass going in to 10a (DM car), dad turned into him and there was pretty significant contact. Thankfully nothing mechanical was damaged. He had a clean qualifying, starting at the back of the SpecE30 pack. during the race he was doing a great job of hanging with Robert and the other guys until a guy in a Miata Bonzai passed him in T7. Again there was contact, and this time much less severe, but I think this rattled him a bit so he dropped back. I think he finisehd the race with a 1:50.7 laptim, which was nearly what the other guys were running (track must have been slow).
On Sunday i drove the car, ran a 1:47.7 in practice (never got a clean lap), didn’t do well in qualifying (got stuck behind a 944 turbo) and was out-qualified by Robert Patton. At the start of the race I found some holes and was able to get by Robert and race with Eric Nissen. Got around him in some lap traffic (Legends car) and was able to finish 16th overall from starting 23rd. Ran a 1:48.5 in the race, a little dissapointing.
Overall we had a decent weekend, hoping to find some more speed in the car with a newer set of tires and a cooler day next time.
