Anybody want it? What do you think it is worth?

#1

Sometimes I wonder why I started this project. I’m pretty sure I will never have time to finish it the way I want it done, so I’m considering selling the project.

Right now, the car is at the cage builder. Nascar bars on both sides from a very good builder (Chris Childs at Angry Sheep Motorsports). It has a Cobra Suzuka GT seat, momo steering wheel, and has been wired for a kill switch.

Car started as my DD as an '89 325i. It had ABSOLUTELY no rust and was a cream puff from day one. I’m pretty sure its never seen a winter drive.

Items it has now:

Vorshlag camber plates
spec suspension
D-force wheels
removed power steering
new control arms (not installed)
motor and tranny mounts (not installed)

There’s more and I can’t think of the rest right now. Currently it has just the cats, with no rear section. I was meaning to purchase the spec exhaust, but was hoping for a ruling before I dropped $$ on something I can fab myself for $50.

Parking brake cables removed
interior is completely gutted
removed all wiring to the extent of the rules
new belts

The car is still at Angry Sheep. Not sure when Chris will be done with the cage. If you had any cage questions or wanted pics, I’m sure you could look his number up.

Not sure what it is worth in this condition.

Hard to make a call on value without lots of details and pics. There’s serviceable race cars being sold for $8k that cost twice that to create.

Hang on to it and after a couple more crashes I’ll come buy it.

#3

A couple more? It’s never been in a wreck…ever.

I’ll hang on to it if nobody wants it. What else am I going to do with it?

#4

after ranger’s had a couple more wrecks. hopefully, neither you nor he will have any wrecks!

Ok, funny aside. What other details besides pics do you guys want? If anyone is seriously interested, they can call Chris at Angry Sheep and I’m sure he can snap a few pics and let you know the scoop. Or email me.

It’s alpine white. No IS lip. Subframe bushings and RTABs are all urethane. Diff bushing is stock.

I’d say half shaft boots need to be redone.

Engine is in fantastic condition. I’ve ordered new valve springs. It has already had a valve job, timing belt, and head gasket in the last 10k miles. Dashboard has no cracks. 181k miles, and the odo still works.

Chris really does fantastic work with cages, as I am sure Jeremy can attest to.

It looks like this car was undercoated religiously. I’m serious, there is no rust on this car, except for where the trunk tar got wet and very light surface rust that you can rattle can over, which will need to be done anyway from the removal of all that anyway.

I was considering rebuilding the transmission. Slight getrag rattle. OEM clutch currently. Once I had it fully built I was going to drive it until the stocker started slipping.

Still needs the injectors sent to RC to be flowed and balanced. Also, the AFM needs adjustment or replacement.

I would be willing to wager some dollars you can’t find a better condition car at the moment without going to a show car. No worries about a bent frame, no wierd camber/caster/toe numbers. Everything is butter on this one.

If the car is in such good condition, do yourself a favor and do the rest of the work to get it on track and get a couple race finishes. That will bring $10k-ish. In its current state as a semi-finished project with no photos, no dyno numbers and a partially finished cage, it is probably $4k on a good day.

He’s going to finish the cage, and install all the saftey related items before I let it go at the minimum. I’ve already paid for it.

There’s no way I will be able to finish the car this year, much less make it out to events. Thus the point of starting the thread.

Doesn’t bother me either way. I hate garage queens, but if nobody wants it, whatever.

An unfinished car is a tough sell, especially when it’s 23 years old. Realistically only you can set the price that works for you and if you don’t get it then hang onto it. If it’s still sitting around this fall talk to me about it some more. Might be interested in a winter project.

#9

It should be done in the next week or two. I’ll post some pics then.

#10

Do you have a price in mind?

#11

In mind…maybe 6-7k. I’ll have to get some pics of the cage up soon. It’s purdy nice.

Not quite finished yet.
