I’m planning a tentative build, assembling parts, etc.for a possible '08 season. In the meantime, I thought it might be good to hang out with someone building, or already racing, to soak up what I can before taking the plunge. Available part-time because I travel a lot for work, but if all goes well I should be semi-retiring in July. Anyone need a go-fer, or extra hands at the track?
Any WNY/CNY teams?
Perhaps you didn’t notice the Navy car is for sale. I wish there had been a car that nice for sale when I was taking the plunge. Save yourself the trouble of building, buy that one and join the madness a year early.
As much as I’d like to jump in this year, there are other things that need my attention. While the smart thing to do would be start in an already sorted car, half(if not more) of the fun, for me, will be competing with my own creation. I’m aware of the costs and pitfalls of doing it this way- I used to be a roundy racer and built four of my own cars and heavily modified a fifth, after starting in a car someone else built. Makes you feel sort of like Dr. Frankenstein. I’m hoping that by tagging along and helping where needed, I can learn enough to keep my mistakes(and there will be plenty) to a minimum.
