Hi! I’m new to this board (though lurking a bit recently) and was wondering if there are any Florida region racers out there?
My husband and I are finishing up with our spec e30 project and would have been racing in the Ohio/Indiana region, but we’re relocating to Tampa in January so that puts us into the Florida region (duh!). My visit to the FL region NASA site shows that they currently are not running any spec e30 races at their events
Are all the FL folks playing with the southeast region?
Just curious…

Any Florida Racers?
I hope the Florida regions grows enough to have SPec e30 included. I would love to have a Spec e30 race at Sebring.
Check the profiles but I don’t think it has really started in that area. Grassroots Motorsports are building a car and I think they are based in Florida so there is 1 being built. You’ll have to get it kick started yourself :), I wish you could stay in OH/IN.

Figures doesn’t it - spend years getting ready to race and learning your home tracks - and then you up and move when it’s time to go racing…
We’ll no doubt miss getting out to Mid Ohio and Nelson Ledges for BMW CCA and PCA events. Both were within 2 hours of the house - spoiled to be sure. But it’s time to learn some new tracks I guess - the only one I’ve driven that NASA FL and SE use is Road Atlanta (and that was in a rental car - long story involving my e36, rain and a tire wall at nelson ledges).
Looking forward to checking Sebring, Roebling and VIR off my list
Tampa is a good drive to Savannah and Roebling Road? Come see us there next year as we are sure to have some good sized fields at that track. It is a favorite, as it received new pavement this past year. Regards, Robert Patton
I sure hope it gets going down there. I’d love to run Sebring and an enduro at Homestead (great track believe it or not).
That funny, I hate Rovals but I actually do like Homestead. I picked up an overall win there a couple of years ago in my IP car there. And you can’t beat Miami for after the track:woohoo:

A few of us are thinking about traveling to FL in '07 to race. Even if Spec E30 isn’t officially on the results sheet as a class, we can have a good Spec E30 race.
Keep us up to date on your plans.

I’m a Florida racer (Clearwater based) who is also prepping a spec E30. My progress is real slow though due to financial reasons. Regardless, Simon is correct, GRM is prepping a car and there will be several other cars down here. Even if it is not officially recognized in the FL region for a while, you can still race your car. If 4 or 5 Spec e30s show up from other areas you can have a race within a race.
By the way - I am a NE Ohio native who relocated to FL 25 years ago. Mid-Ohio and Nelson are great tracks June-October but the winter racing down here out weighs the nasty weather up there any day. From Tampa, Sebring is a 2 1/2 hour tow, Moroso is 4, Homestead is 5, Roebling is 6, Road Atlanta or Barber Motorsports park are both 8, and VIR is 14hrs away. If you have the time and money you can drive somewhere every weekend.

my (limited) experience is that if some cars register for any of the NASA series, they will get to race as that. You won’t have your own run group though. You can also choose to run in GTS or PT pretty easily.
cheers,

You know all about the fun Cleveland winters! As a matter of fact, we’re heading down to Tampa this evening to go new house shopping this weekend (wish us luck!) and got socked with a heck of a snowstorm this morning… rush hour was a blast!
We’re hoping to get to all of those tracks (probably won’t be all this year!) because as you say - time and money - not always in unlimited supply

Sounds like fun to me… we’re going to have our work cut out for us learning these new tracks so that we can keep up with you guys!
