Another SE SpecE30 nears completion.

#1

Howdy all. My brother Jeff and I have been working hard on our specE30 project and it is near completion, just need the rollcage, batt switch and a few other little things and we are ready. I did all suspension and bushing / mount work over the last couple of months as well as replaced gear box. Took the car to CMP for a TurnOne event and had an absolute blast, the car ran (and sounded) great, and we got lots of cudos from the other e30 folks, some with highly modded cars that could not drop us like they wanted to! So we are looking very forward to joining in on the fun this coming season. See you all at the track.

Hey Tom and welcome to the forum. I talked to your brother Jeff this week about a Racepak G2x. Sounds like you are almost ready to join the W2W action. If you need a recommendation for a good weld in cage call Chris Schimmel at CompetionCages.com He has done a lot of the SE30 cars in the area and his prices are fair.

I was at CMP the Monday before you were there for a test/tune day. Its a fun track if not a little hard on brakes and tires. Anyway call if you have any questions about the car.

Thanks Ken, looking forward to the action.

I’m heading down the home stretch too… My cage is currently being installed by Chris Schimmel. Hope to have the car back in another week or 2. Then I’ll be putting her back together, install the rear sub frame bushings , trailing arm bushings and I’ll be ready for the February Comp School at VIR.

I Can’t wait…

That cage looks like a good start!

#6

Any idea what the cost will end up being on your Cage?

#7

the meter is running…

We’ve made a few changes to the original plans and I’ve also asked for a few extras. I can let you know what the base cage cost is when it’s done… which will be soon

It’s great to hear that you guys are all getting closer to hitting the track for some great Spec E30 racing.

As our new guys finish your cars, let us know what NASA Region you’ll consider to be your "home" region. Thay way, we’ll know who to look for at each track.

And how many Spec E30 drivers will be doing the VIR Feb Comp School? I’ll be instructing that weekend and always look forward to mixing it up on the track during the Comp School sessions.

Is bump drafting part of the curriculum for Comp School?

Only for the big bumper cars. . . . B)

Jones and myself are also on the schedule to have our cages done. Scheduling with the cage builder may keep us/me from doing the Feb. Comp school though.

I just finished removing the head from mine to replace the IE cam with a stocker. Wish me luck on the rebuild :side:

I’m planning on doing the February Comp School and based on schedule and track selection… I will split my time between the Southeast and Mid Atlantic regions

Looking forward to joining you guys on track :woohoo:

Only if you’re a close neighbor of an instructor…

Hello All,
I’m considering Comp School @ VIR. Kappy and others have told me it’s the best educational experience they’d had. I will be running in the BMW CCA Comp school next Thursday @ Roebling Road. Should get a reasonable view of my readiness from that. If it goes okay - I’ll register.
NASA MA will always be my SpecE30 home!

My home SE30 region will be the MA. Hopefully I/we will be able to race in the SE as well.

I hope to have the cage done in time for the February comp school but it looks like that may be pushing it.

Tom and Scott, it is great to see that both cars are near completion. Will either of you be racing in the SE region? Scott shows a MA affiliation, but our tracks aren’t too far away. We start the season at CMP in February and I think that there will be a competition school ofered there.Come join us and keep us advised of your progress. Regards, Robert Patton

I will more than likely do more events with SE than with MA. I hope to join SE for at least 5-6 races and MA for about 3-4.

If there is a competition school… I will do the Feb. 10-11 CMP event. I was unaware they would have one that weekend.

Jeff here (Tom’s brother),

We’ll also spend most of our time in the SE as he’s in Charleston and I’m in Winston Salem. The biggest issue will be who drives the first car while we are working on the second car???

My guess is the guy that paid for it will get the first shot, but Tom may disagree!!! LOL

We look forward to following you hot drivers around these tracks and maybe we can manage to stay out of your way!

Jeff
