American Top Gear

I’m not too impressed. British dudes seem to be much funier. Let’s hope they get better.

There in studio part needs improvement. The other bits were fine. Remember that it took some time for the UK version to get to where it is now.

Looking forward to watching it off my DVR tonight. I watched a 30 minute interview with them, and Rutlidge didn’t seem like as much of an idiot as I thought he would.

For me the main issue is Tanner and Rutledge seems like they were reading from a script(esp tanner).

Now I know TG UK is scripted, but it dosen’t feel that way, this really felt like they were tring to hard. Where UK seems more like 3 idiots do cool stuff with cars and there just happens to be a camera there (with cool editing)

Hopefully in time it will get better. Tanner also needs more verbal Quirks like Clarkson.

I actually thought Tanner and especially Rutledge were the best. Everything “the comedian” said seemed awkward to me. When he was tossing it to segments it seemed awkward and the interview was awkward. Seemed like they were expecting most viewers not to know what the Stig was, and I really wish they had introduced him with a couple “some people say” lines. I was surprised they didn’t pick an American car for the “Small Car”. I really liked the Viper and Cobra Helicopter part. I thought they really showed the amazing abilities of the Cobra and I wanted to see more footage of the helicopter than the car. Oh yeah, I REALLY want a Gallardo Superleggera now.

I thought it was good for a first episode.
I didn’t like that they used the word “EPIC” twice in the first 10 minutes.
The videography was good, in the style of TG UK.
The in-studio interview sucked. “I walked on the moon.” "Yes, I had those cars."
The track is very bumpy, very tight in sections, and difficult to follow. Seems like they could remove a couple tight turns and open it up a bit.
The new Stig didn’t seem so polished in the Viper. Came across the finish line intentionally-sidways instead of tracking out with maximum speed. He looks a little chubby (start the guesses now…) and I missed the intros. He looked better in the Lambo.
Rutlege looks like the best “character” of the group. I was a little disappointed with Adam. Tanner did pretty decent considering he’s a racer, not a comedian. I don’t expect too much from him. I hope their chemistry builds, though.
Tanner can DRIVE.
