Almost there…

Spec suspension is in! Only things left are anything that has bushings or ball joints and anything that flows fuel, oil, water, electricity, or brake fluid. Oh and the roll cage. And cutoff, fire suppression, window nets, seats, HANS, and harnesses. And the bribes to my financial planner. Woot!

Love to see some pics!

I hope you plan on doing everything at the same time. You’ll make a lot more work for yourself if you don’t

#4

Yup, totally agree. Unfortunately time and money come in discrete packages at different times of the year. My vacation balance is maxxed out at Christmas because I like to store it up in case I get laid off. Something my company is historically prone to do the first week of December. This is also the time of min bank balance. And I’m living on borrowed time in the wife’s garage space. “My side” is already taken up with four other auto/bike projects. Bottom line, the car will make many passes through the garage for essentially similar work. Pics coming soon.

Pics would be great. I wish I had taken more during my build. I did it like you buying things as money was available and building it during the weekends.

These things took hours, nothing fit quite right:

Hate these end links:

SAE HW, now I gotta pack two tools sets. And about 1 mm of clearance from the springs:

A little rear trans seal leak?

More to come later today…

I can’t tell from the pictures, but did you weld in reinforcements on the rear sway pick up points? That is mandatory, not merely advisable.

#8

Thanks Jim. I do have the TMS reinforcements, but didn’t weld them in yet. All that’s on there now is the ST reinforcement and it’s just sitting in there. Need to learn to weld, or take 'em somewhere. I do know they snap off after “a while” but didn’t know how long “a while” was. I’ll get it done forthwith.

#9

I make the mistake of driving my first car to work and back (about 5mi each way, mostly interstate) after installing the sways but before welding in the reinforcements. Both tabs were badly bent and I had to straighten them before welding in the equivalent of the Turner plates. That is why I say they are mandatory.

#10

Hmmm, maybe I ought to remove the links until I can get to a welder.

More pics…
The awesome RaceTech RT4000. Good price, good condition, and local from a Spec 944 guy. With the even more awesome Schroth Ralleye 3’s. Best money on DE car control I’ve ever spent. They’ve fit my E36, my E46, and now my E30, the E30 needs a 4th rear buckle added to work though. Man you guys have skinny butts.
