All these "Rule" Questions

#1

Carter,

Since you’ve had to field so may "rule" related questions recently you might be asking yourself…Is it possible to build a legal car without a major re-write or multiple clarification paragraphs added to the exsisting rules…well Just in case your wondering, I’d like to put your mind at ease. Both dave and I built our cars and brought them to the track by simply following what’s already written. And they turned out to be legal, competative, but most importantly alot of FUN. Which is what club racing should be about.

take care:)

ps…the race is with whoever’s in front of you, regardless of overall track postition.

Brain:

I understand your comments. I also remember that once cars are built, these questions fade away.

As we are grow into a bigger and bigger group, we will have several different and legitimate (mostly) questions and concerns.

For sure, if someone such as Dave and you builds a car according to the rules, he will have a fun and reliable race car, to race with fellow Spec E30 drivers.

As we have always said, we know that fielding questions and concerns is a part of the process. Fortunately, our reasonable and steady growth keeps it manageable.

If a new driver has a question, feel free to ask anytime. You might not like or agree with the answer but you’ll get your answer. And in the end, if you build the car according to the rules, you’ll be smiling from ear-to-ear after your first race weekend.

Usually I’m the one to buck the system or rules in this case. I found the rules easy to understand, very clear and 99.9% covering any questions that I have. I thought you might like to hear some positive comments about the spece30 rules.

I hope to have my e30 at summit point next weekend. I’m finishing an upgrade to the suspension. The spec bilstein struts, H&R springs, new tie rods, replacement of all fuel lines, belts,cooling/vacuum hoses and many other prep items. (I’ve gotten to know the people at the bmw dealership in Sterling VA by first name). The parts are priced at full sticker, but I get free shipping, the parts are usually in within a day and they seem to give pretty decent service so far. I tried to get a discount, telling them about spece30 but it fell on deaf ears. I got the owners name and will bug him.

Also I prepared some instructions for installing the bilstein shocks, I needed some clairification about a few items and the support at Bilstein was first rate. I’m going to see if I can post it somewhere at this site.

Sterling does take BMWCCA discount (through Tischer discounts deeper with membership); or go with PacifcBMW.com - they have the same phone/internet/mail-order prices as Tischer, without the need for a club discount, if you don’t have one, and their shipping is fast.
