A Crazy Idea

Who would like to do the 12 hour enduro at VIR???

I would be willing to use my black car and I have a couple of "e" motors…we could run in ITA. A second car would be great and 8 spec e30 drivers. I have a shack up there with a garage…we would need someone to organize and figure out a dollar cost per driver minus whatever hardware each driver brings. This could be a lot of fun to run with the regular SCCA guys…

I don’t even know where it falls on the calender but what do yall think??

I would consider it but would have to renew my SCCA license. Keep me updated and I need the date.

Al - when is this? Mike and I might be in.

sounds very interesting. We could possibly do it with 5-6 drivers.

#5

Still want us even if we’re slow?

Could be very fun. Is this the charge of the headlight brigade race?

#6

Are you talking about the 13 hour Nov. 3? I might be interested.

#7

It is the first weekend of NOV…there were some photos and info on the VIR site, I am pretty serious about it, will have to look into license issues.

hehe, yeah i think he’s talking about the 13 hr…i definitely don’t want to run with Al if he’s only planning on a 12 hr race

scca does not have any sort of reciprocal agreement with nasa (they don’t recognize nasa licenses or race experience)…they will give you a license if you have a bmw club license and some races within the last year…that’s how i got mine for last year’s 13 hr race…i should be running in it again this year

as far as the race goes, its a huge field and be ready for some rough driving…tons of spec miatas and many have no regard for any other cars on track…

I only have a liscense with nasa. So i can’t get a liscense with SCCA without going to one of their schools? How does it work?

As long as you are consistent you have a chance at winning an enduro.

To an extent

unfortunately, that might be the case…

you’ll have to talk to the regional or divisional licensing person…

Mike, SCCA recognizes NASA licenses and vice versa. I actually got my license with SCCA and converted it to NASA.

AL, I might be interested.

#14

I think that BMW and SCCA will recognize each other for licensing and NASA will recongnize BMW and SCCA but neither BMW or SCCA will recognize NASA for licensing? That is just what I’ve always been told anyway.

#15

Ken I beleive you are correct. NASA will recognize your SCCA license but SCCA will not recognize your NASA lic.

when i got my scca license last summer, they did not recognize NASA licenses/race experience…did something change?

#17

David, I may be out of school on this topic. I got my SCCA license by attending Panoz racing school. I sent the SCCA certificate for a license to NASA and was given a license. I assumed it could go back the other way…perhaps not. edit: a letter to an SCCA race instructor/administrator would probably suffice.

Al, I know you don’t know me from Adam, I haven’t raced with you guys (yet) and I have never driven VIR. but put me in for consideration. Seriously, I have significant (documnented) enduro experience including a Firehawk 12 hour, a couple of HSR class wins, and a second in an HSR night enduro. A spec/ITA eta would be a serious contender in that long of a race.

My spec E30 is done except for cage and safety equipment and I am running in a few HPDEs down here this year. With funds permitting and assuming the class will be recognized by the Florida region, I plan to be racing in this area next year. Many of my local buddies run in the VIR 13 hr (Miata and Civic Type R) and they say it is a blast. This enduro may be a great head start for me and a chance to get to know the MA fraternity. So Keep me posted.

SCCA WDC region won’t just give you a license based on a NASA license. They may waive one of the school requirements. NASA will accept a SCCA license and CCA,PCA, and some others to get a comp license.
