A couple pf Spec E30 drivers need your prayers....

#1

There was a very bad wreck during the Autobahn race at Summit Point today near turn 4. Two Spec E30 drivers Rick Mariani and Tom White were involved. The race was black flagged until the drivers could be gotten out of their cars and things cleaned up. Both drivers were banged up but conscious. Ricks cage needed to be cut to get him out. He took the ride to the hospital to get checked out. Details are scarce at this time. For now please keep these guys in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.

Tom was paddocked next to us so obviously we took a keen interest in his condition… he’s okay but very very sore. Forgot to let go of the steering wheel before hitting the berm so his arms took way too much energy. He bent the steering wheel forward almost to the cluster! He told us he plans to get checked out soon if the swelling and pain don’t subside. We got him loaded up on his trailer for the ride home.

Never saw Mariani after the race but heard he felt well enough to decline treatment after the initial look-over by the med techs.

Chris said Rick was complaining of back pain but was ok other than that. I know my heart dropped when I saw those cars sitting on the side of the track, they were both destroyed. I hope both of them recover quickly.

Thanks for the updates, glad to hear they are OK, sorry to hear about their cars. Summit can be a rough place.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Badly bruised lower back and butt bone, the family jewels aint feeling to good either. Good news is nothing broken but the car.

Bad news is the car is done. Need a car; business sucks, the economy sucks and I got no money to build a new one.

That said what is out there raceable and cheap.

More importantly I hope Tom is OK!

+1
It’s a relief to know you’re ok.

I always hate receiving news of car damage and it’s worse when the drivers are hurt. Very glad to hear everyone is OK and there are no serious injuries.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery

Hey guys, thnx for the thoughts & concerns, The right arm (ulna) is broken, surgery to follow. The 8th rib on the right is broken. Lucky, ‘cause I think the HANS was guardian from some serious stuff.
Hey Rick, I was really concerned when you got toted away on a stretcher. Hope you heal up OK and quickly. I’m pretty sure my car is totaled too.
Of course I will rebuild & back. It’ll be awhile though given time and $$$.

OOPs. I meant LEFT arm. It’s the meds:P

Sorry to hear about you guys, but glad you’re doing better. Sounds like a nasty incident, thank goodness your safety equipment did its job.

#15

Wow…We had a fairly clean event at Sebring this past weekend with only a couple “racing incident” love tap. It was hotter than hell but we all were able to drive our cars on to the trailer.

Best wishes guys. Gald to hear that you’ll both be OK.

#16

Ouch tom… but I’m glad you already have plans for a comeback!

Get well soon.

#17

Wow!
So glad to hear that you guys are fixable, even if the cars are not. Thank goodness for all the advances in safety gear
We’ll keep an eye out down here for any suitable donors for rebuilding.
Feel better!

Rick and Tom,

Glad you guys are OK, if not a little battered. Saw both cars and know you guys went through a tough one. Rick, I walked down with your son to grab some stuff from the car. Sorry I didn’t see you before we left. Let me know if you need anything - I have a lot of parts. I will keep an eye out for a cheap 4 door!

Glad you guys are both ok.

I’ve got an 87is with a bad auto sitting in a barn. Let me know $800 takes the whole car. It would be cheaper but it has a good M20, and 3.73lsd.

P.S.

Glad you guys are okay. I almost had my first code brown moment at RA two weeks ago.
