I truly hope that the powers-that-be in Spec E30 and at NASA’s HQ take a good hard look at this year’s debacle.

No Factory Five Challenge cars this year? No Honda Challenge?

Something is going on besides “it’s too expensive to get to Miller.” The real take-away is “it’s not WORTH IT to get to Miller.”

It’s hard to believe THIS was the logo for the 2011 Championships.

Why do you think it “isn’t worth it?”

I haven’t been paying attention to the other class rules, but I don’t remember hearing anything like the rule change this year in those other classes. I always thought Honda Challenge was big on the west coast?

I really wanted to go out to Miller, since it was a track I hadn’t been to before and has some nice scenery, along with being close to the salt flats. The cash to haul out there was a bit much ($1,000 in gas). Entry fee has always been pricey if you don’t get in early and even then it was pricey.

If the field is large enough Toyo pays out $5k, which is a decent sum of money for the season championship.

I chose to stay near home and win the regional (if I win, which very clearly is a battle), which pays out $1k in toyo bucks. Yeah, its only Toyo bucks, but tires is a major cost for my season, if not the highest expense aside from gas. Is it Miller itself? For me, if I had a bit more cash would be great. They actually offer RV parking with power, which is a huge bonus in my book.

If you look into the structure, I’m not sure why the qualifying races are needed. Should they just shorten it up to a 3 day race weekend with a couple qualifying sessions and then the race? I suppose that depends on the entry list (numbers).

I’m not sure why so many of the east coast guys didn’t go, but if it was due to the west coast guys having the monster hp numbers, well then it was a double negative since the west coast guys have no desire to race with each other. Then again, if all the west coast guys showed up, they could have raced for $5k. Maybe that’s not enough? Seems unlikely.

Of course, I have to look at the budget for next season, but I fully plan on attending at Miller next year. It would make the decision even easier if some folks (up to 4) wanted to stay with me in the RV for the week and help cover costs. I would definitely plan to be hooked up to power all week so the A/C, compressor, and TV would work all the time. I don’t have many hoarsepowarz, but would still like to race.

If I had known I could have been champion just by showing up I totally would have towed out there.
