Go to the bottom part of the page and you’ll see the dates if you extend the Google calendar into 2011. Near as I can tell, no one else has spotted this yet. Ranger exclusive.

i’ve had the nasa-se schedule added to my google calendar all year

Seems very similar to this year. I assume that when there are Fridays then that means either an enduro or comp school. I would love to know the comp school weekends to plan for next year.

BMWCCA will have a comp school at Roebling in Dec. If that fits your schedule, talk to Jim Pantas to see if a BMWCCA Rookie ticket will get you a NASA Rookie license. The truth on that has changed a couple times. His region…his call.

The BMW comp school is very good.

There is always a comp school at the Feb CMP event.

2 days at CMS :woohoo:

and Roebling Road is back on :woohoo: :woohoo:

Well done Jim (and gang)… looks like an awesome schedule.

Anyone know if the “Pay for all the events in December and get a huge discount” deal will be in effect? That was a wonderful way to get the racing year paid for ahead of time and make it affordable.

Have begun negotiations in earnest with the CFO. My goal is to do Comp School in Feb 2012.
Seat time with NASA and BMWCCA should get me there right?

Any seat time that allows you to gain skills will help, but comp school applications have to be approved by Jim “honcho” Pantas. So if you don’t have some HPDE3 time in NASA-SE, he’s not going to know you from Adam. Half the comp school class at VIR didn’t make it last weekend. Don’t go until you are ready.

“Open track” time is a big skill builder. That gains you some experience in an open passing environment where you’re sharing the track in close quarters, and in the turns.

Dexter, with one more year of DE under your belt you’ll be fine. Don’t be intimidated by comp school, I found it to be tons of fun. Practice driving offline, and try to run a TT or two next year. Familiarize yourself with the CCR, flags and passing rules being the most crucial. I learned this in comp school so I’ll pass it along to you “asphalt is for racing, grass is for passing”.

Now that you’ve told us when you plan on doing comp school I’m thinking I might volunteer to help out. We’ll see if you can make it around the track with my front bumper 3 inches off your rear bumper B)

Heck, if they gave me a comp license then there is hope for all.

Dexter, to give you some perspective, I had 70 track days before I signed up for Comp School, and almost 100 track days before my first race. Sure I learn slower then most, but the guys that have had 30 track days or less aren’t, IMO, ready.

#14

I will have 12 by the end of the year. Let me know what BMWCCA events you are doing, and I will see if I can show up as well. I was hoping to do the last comp school next year, but I can probably wait till 2012 to do it with you Dex. Don in Florida seemed to think I was ready now, but I want more seat time for sure. I would love to have your bumper 3 inches off mine Greg. I would rather try and keep my front bumper 3 inches off your rear bumper.

Scott’s qualifications are a little drastic. I probably had between 25-30 track days before I went to comp school. I felt I was ready and that was the most important thing. I was comfortable in the car, traffic didn’t bother me, and my times were mid packish with the racers. You can do 1000 DE’s without learning what you will learn your first race weekend. When you feel like you’re ready jump in with two feet.

I don’t know there’s a hard and fast number. more experience is certainly better but sometimes you just need to get into it. Racing is a whole different league from DE is what I’m finding…

#17

That is kind the feeling I have been getting lately. The Florida region with only Miatas and the few SpecE30s in lightning might be the best place for me to start before tackling the awesome South East fields.

I come to events to drink beer with my buddies. I just bring a SpecE30 to distinguish myself from the Miatas.

Good try, but I won’t be dragged into cheap shots in the forum. Forums are a mean-free zone for me. We can discuss your class envy off line.

Damn. One day I will learn you skill of maintaining composure!

You’re right, and we’re damn glad to have you. Plus, what would your Army buddys think if you drove a Miata???
