2010 Nationals at Miller CALL OUT

#1

OK I am calling you guys out. Step up and prove yourself. as of 6/28 only 6 guys are signed up. Are you guys scared? a lack of funds is no excuse. 28 944s are signed up (they have less money than us) and 6 E30s, good grief!

Nor Cal has placed an official challenge on the table to you east of the Mississippi boys. Get your butts out to Salt Lake and show us what you got. I have been hearing in the year I have been around, how great the east coast racers are. I don’t buy it! Sure Cobetta has some wins. Well, we have figured out this east coast motor stuff, and we are ready to rumble!

Last year we sent a weak showing out there and let Cobetto spank us. It ain’t happin’ this year. We are coming “loaded for Cobetto” and who ever else he brings. Last year only one guy had a decent motor and he did at least keep Cobetto honest. But that will be different this year. He will have a whole pack of guys grindin’ on his bumper.

Cobetto get your posse together. Pull Skeen out of retirement and off the TV. Get Allen and Hunt and Devinney and Ranger out of the garage. Tell Schwartz, Hunter and Davidson to quit shining their trophys, get Patton and Curran and Palacio and Reznikov to bring their A game and their accents.

Guys look at the silliness of the TV time Maita and Hondas are getting. they are a bunch of Ping pong balls!

We do this for EGO food and nothing more, so get your Ego out here and knock Cobetto off the Podium. Sure he is a heck of a nice guy (they say, whoever they are) but three times come on.

And to you my California Brothers, quit with the excuses, only 6 of us so far…give me a break. Take your wife away for the weekend, give here Spa treatments and a massage, buy her some jewelry and some new shoes. Tell her you love her more than anything in the world and show her!!! Then get online and sign up.

There are some garages left. We will be partying at the GP garages where we have 3 in a row. I also propose an East-West coast BBQ cook off! I know you guys back east can cook…and eat, I have seen the pictures! I promise you guys some of the best Tritip BBQ you ever had and some good beer and wine if you show up.

Hope to see you all there! Really let’s make this fun, take your family on a Road Trip. There is a TON of fun stuff for your family to do in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming close by.

Think about it!

I was planning to go but I wrecked my car this past weekend at Infineon…

First, it is Cobetto not Cobetta
Second, historically the Nationals are historically taken down by people east of the Mississippi. It’s just fact, the best racers come from the right coast!

Just kidding. Im likely to bring my SE30 from Florida, even though it isn’t sorted and developed yet. I have already signed up my Factory Five and reserved two places in the trailer. Looking forward to having some fun.

That is a huge disappointment. I am glad to hear you are OK.

I had my money on you this year. King Cobetto is deserving of his reign, but I just like the underdog. With another year of SE30 under your belt, that would be a dogfight if the highest order.

I had a great seat to watch you guys battle last year. Unfortunately this year I can’t swing it. Last year I let a guy borrow my duallie so I got my car out there for 1/2 the cost of diesel, split a house with 4 other guys, etc. That’s not even in the budget this year. :frowning:

If anyone is on the fence, I’d strongly recommend going. The track is tons of fun - waaaay better than I expected. Great mix of high and low speed stuff.

I will be licensing my splitter prototype in case anyone needs help with push in the high speed sweepers.

Thank you, noted and edited, no disrespect intended.

Regarding “the Fire” Ferrario, I think he will man up and be there. I don’t see a Totaled race car stopping him. He is the Bionic man he will arise bigger stronger and faster. He is a Lean and Mean, Racing Machine!

Good luck out there

That’s quite a write up - with a 4 month old at home I’m lucky to see the track period. Asking for permission to go to Utah for a week might have a “slight” impact on my home situation if you know what I mean.

#9

Once mine is done I plan to attend nationals each year. It would be nice to see more SE30 guys show up for Nationals.

Two months to go and still only six entries with two maybes? Serious?!? We have to be able to do better’n that…

Double what Kevin (THE Shoe) said.

Watching the weather in SLC, is it always 95-100 deg. I guess September is cooler!?

#12

The desert up North gets pretty Chilly by the end of September.

It starts off nice and warm hot (high 80’s low 90’s) and gets down the the low 70’s by the end of the month during the day.

The night temps get a little brutal at night by October, down to the low 40’s or colder…

We have 29 944-spec cars now.

Yes. The weather should be nice by then. Last year it was week earlier and very nice. A little warm in the sun in mid afternoon, but nice in the shade. It did get pretty chilly in early moring. Last year I camped in my enclosed trailer and will do so again this year.

Currently 12 Spec E30s officially signed up. The four cars that got hurt 8/21-8/22 are all in the midst of repairs, and look to be ready come the start of festivities in September.

Robert Grace is in the house!

Anyone else considering the trip? I think pricing goes up significantly after Tuesday night (8/31). With 10 racers, Contingencies $ are decent. I hope there are a few ready to join us. We have 3 GP garages together which gives us a 60 x 90 paddock area as well, so we should be able to party together.

My car got creamed by an RX7 with lots of money, speed, and balls, but no talent or humility. The boys at Speed Trapp are really burning the Midnight Oil (hi Shawn #3) to get my car ready. Honestly I was ready to bail but the boys wouldn’t let me. Good thing with all the smack talk I did on here. Thanks Tony, Sean and Jeff Baxman!

Look forward to seeing those of you who can make it. Look forward to seeing the King in action!

Guys & Gals -

I know brake pad preference is like SEC football allegiance. But in case any of you are interested, here’s some info from my friend Danny at Carbotech. They are offering some pretty damn good contingency money for Nationals.

We wanted to offer the grassroots racers a contingency for the 2010 NASA Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park. Even though Hawks deal with NASA keeps any other brake pad manufacturers from having an official contingency through NASA, we still have other ways of announcing our contingency program (through forums like this).

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make this year so it’s extremely important that competitors take a picture AT MILLER that shows our decals on the car. Thank you and good luck to all competitors!

Steve,
Will they have decals and Patches available at the track? If not, Can they get them to me before. I leave this weekend?

Which of their pads do you prefer? How do you like them compared to PFC 01 or 06? You can PM me.

The Carbotech XP10 most closely resembles the PFC06 & 01. XP08 has less bite and the XP12 more. There’s some threads from a couple years ago where I spent a bunch of time comparing different brake pads. We need a better search engine.

If you need stickers/patches, send an email to Mike Puskar at jr@ctbrakes.com with your request and address. He’ll mail them out ASAP.

I’ve had great success with Carbotech on all of my track driven cars and recommend RP2 compound in the front with XP10 in the rear. RP2 is similar to XP12 in performance, but with better wear characteristics. Being that I’m just a mid-pack rookie driving a car with fish decals, I tend to shy away from giving advice, but I didn’t think of this combination on my own. Rather, a very fast driver (white SE #1 car) mentioned that this combination works very well for him. Try it; you’ll like it!!!

I have several sets of XP-10’s new, $120.00 plus shipping per set. E-mail smckay@mckay-law.com or PM.
