2009 E30 PRO-3 Calendar

#1

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!

If anyone is looking for a nice E30 racing calendar for 2009, we’ve created one for our PRO-3 class up in the Pacific Northwest. Proceeds (once we pay off the printer bill) will go to the BMW CCA Foundation.

PRO-3 is similar to SpecE30, but limited to racing in the Northwest with sanctioning body ICSCC. Our biggest similarity? Not being part of BMWCCA Club Racing, LOL.

(That’s a joke, I have nothing against the CR group)

Anyway, here’s a link to the Pugest Sound Chapter’s BB, with info about the 2009 calendar, and a few pics.

Lance, really nice calendar. Gotta love the Jager car.

I know you’ve told us before, but what are the differences in your e30s and our e30s?

Discussion will make for interesting bench racing in the winter.

he actually answered the same question from you last year!

Thanks Bruce, My computer skills for searching are nil and my memory is for nil too.

I’ll punch-up the link.

PS great reread. It looks like a fun series. Their discussion on suspension set-ups is also of interest. Hint: it isn’t the set-up it is the driver.

Nice find on the old link, saved me some typing.

I guess I could add an update to what was stated in that link. Rules since then have only been tweaked slightly. We’re going to run the R888 in 2009. Other rule changes were minor and implemented to clean up language.

The group has seen growth. We now have 40 built, ready to race, PRO-3 cars, with another half dozen that are caged and nearing completion. We ran a 12 race series in 2008, averaging 17 PRO-3 cars per start. Our largest grid was 29 cars.

There are enough cars on the grid now that everyone has a race with someone, no matter where they are on the grid. So we’ve got the critical mass so that everyone gets a good race each time out.

With the economy soft, I’m curious to see how the grid numbers go for 2009.

We do watch the SpecE30 rules and have mirrored them in a couple of places so we can be involved in the SpecE30 buying power. One example is allowing 15" wheels, starting last year.

Congratulations on your series growth Lance - that must be a lot of fun. I’ve got in car video of a friend’s GT-3 car at Pacific and that track looks to be an absolute blast - I agree with the N ring comparison. I get up to Seattle from time to time, I’ll try and time it next time to come watch you guys race.

BTW, I tried to buy the calendar - there is a lot of info required just to buy a calendar and the shipping thing with fedex wasn’t clear to me so I bailed. Maybe I’ll make a call later.

Cheers,
AJ

The website is a little confusing. Their back end is tied into FedEx. But they won’t charge you the FedEx shipping price that shows at checkout and will manually add the $2 postal cost.

You don’t have to go through the whole registration process also, but I agree that it is confusing.

So if there is any confusion, I suggest just calling their toll free number and ordering over the phone. 1-877-333-4484.

I will say that Speedware Motorsports has been great to help sell the calendars for us. They are not taking any cut on the sales.

Pacific Raceways is a little bit 'o Nurburgring. Blind turns, the track always going up and down, not a lot of run-off in places. For people that run on tracks with lots of run-off, it can be a little intimidating at first. The rest of the facility is second rate, but the track layout itself is awesome. The track has been around since the late 50’s or early 60’s. Sam Posey’s favorite race was an early race at Pacific Raceways in the 60’s. He comment was “after a lap at Pacific Raceways you really felt like you had been somewhere”.

Yea, those trees look close!

I’ll try the calendar thing again.

Here’s a nice split screen in-car of a race at Pacific Raceways. A camera going front and back. Gives a good idea of the trees on the back side of the track. The track has about 150 feet of elevation change.

Driver starts on the 4th row of a 26 PRO-3 car grid.

Driver makes a mistake about lap 3 and puts 4 wheels off and loses about 5 places. Fun to then watch him get those places back.

Last 10 minutes he has a great dice with a white E30.

note the “high quality” feature on Youtube that you can watch it on. The picture quality is much better on the high quality.

Some people have asked about paying with PayPal to order a calendar. I’ve now got a stack of calendars in hand and can handle your PayPal payment.

Again, cost is just $9.95 each plus $2 for postage. You can PayPal me at (edited): Lance@Richertnet.com

There was a typo in my PayPal address, it is now corrected. If you didn’t get a BMW themed motorsport calendar in your stocking, now’s a good time to order a PRO-3 calendar.

I have ordered mine…
