Wires, wires and more wires

#1

While I’m gutting my interior, I’m a little unsure as to what to do with all of the unused 12V wiring. I’d like to remove it back to it’s source, but it’s all spooled up with everything else and is really confusing. I could just put a butt splice on the end of them all to terminate them, but it seems like a slack way of doing it.

Has anyone ever developed a guide of what can be removed and how to get it out of harness, or at least kill power to the circuit so you don’t have loose hot wires flopping around?

I’d really like to get rid of the temperature control harnesses and the power sunroof harness.

Most people will tell you to leave it alone. You’ll just invite unwanted problems.

With that said. I cut out a lot of my unused wires. For things like the sunroof, I just followed the wires as far as I could and cut them. I’ve not encountered any problems from this method.

proceed with caution and at you own risk.

The green sunroof wire easily pops out of the spaghetti harness at the top. It is now a long auxiliary power wire with a female spade connector! I will be using mine to power something.

Are you allowed to do that? I understand being able to get rid of the sunroof harness because it is part of the sunroof assembly. Where in the rules would it allow you to remove the temperature control harness? Are we considering this part of the A/C? As it controls a lot more than the A/C (non-conditioned air venting, defroster), is this legal?

Just trying to understand what I can and can not pull…
