Windshield?

#1

Anybody got an extra windshield they want to sell?

Install tips? (never done it)

I have an extra but I think it will be going with my car when I sell it. It came with my car when I bought it so I assume it fits lol…

I found this article on the net: http://e30world.com/body/BMW-E30-windshield-replacement

There was also an old thread on here about installing one…I think it had pics too.

If you can’t find one, I can pull one off my parts car and bring to Mid-Ohio and we can install. Not much too it. Then when you find one you can just replace mine. I have two parts cars but only one windshield left so want to keep one around.

Jeremy,

I got Safelite to replace mine for $160, including Parts AND Labor. They’ll price match and they did it on my word. If they don’t do so for you, I can try to dig up a receipt. …if that’s the direction you’d like to go. Sorry about the carnage. I really didn’t even know what off-roading you were talking about until I saw your video. I was chopped a bit going into T10 under the Honda bridge, which is what may have caused the bulk of the damage.

Good luck.

Yeah, for $160, I’d probably just go that route. Would like to wait till after NASA Nationals if NASA doesn’t complain about it.

Receipt would be helpful. Quote was closer to $260.

Jeremy, I’ll try to look next week. Feel free to remind me with a text or something one night. In the meantime, I literally just told them “a friend” got this price on the same car and they matched it. This is assuming that you don’t need a new windshield gasket. You may have already mentioned this to them, so I will still look for it.

$100 and you can have mine. It is sitting in my basement with nowhere to go. I won’t be at the track for the remainder of the year so you’d have to make arrangements to pick it up in Cleveland.

Install tip: cover the inside of.the seal in wd40 and insert a cord in the gap. Pull out while pressing the windsheild in. You get the idea. I’m to late i know, but i hate when i miss a thread i had input for.

If the car is street legal still you can get a windshield replaced for $50 if you have decent insurance.

At what cost in an annual premium, though? I have liability insurance on my car for those few times that I drive it to and from a shop (it’s just not worth the risk to not have liability). But to add collision, which would include windshield replacement, didn’t seem worth it to me.

What happens if the car is stolen? From the shop or on the trailer? Only way to cover that is to have the correct insurance.

I would think that if your car is at a shop their insurance should cover it. If the car is not street legal and is stolen from your house I think HO insurance may cover it. Stolen from a hotel parking lot you may be screwed.

Only way to be protected is transport, paddock and storage insurance. Look at your auto policy, it probably excludes coverage of any kind on a racecar. Home owners isn’t gonna cover it either.
