I might finally be purchasing an e30 in the next few days but it is an i so one of the first things i want to do is swap in an lsd. I was wondering if you guys have found it necessary to run a finned diff cover to keep temps low? I know some of you guys run 3 hour enduros, how do the diffs hold up in those conditions?
Who uses a finned diff cover?

In three years of Spec E30 racing, I can’t think of a single diff failure among the group.
I don’t think anyone is using a finned cover, but it wouldn’t hurt, that’s for sure.

I have the M/Z3 cover on my diff. I realized it was overkill when I bought it, but I thought I’d be better safe than sorry and I used it as an excuse to open the diff and inspect it.
