Who is coming to South Carolina in Feb?

Track width? Seems like I heard of somebody else getting popped for that at CMP a couple years ago. :woohoo:

PS - Bitching on here still counts as bitching. :stuck_out_tongue:

The DQ was kind of bogus. We get told to put new tires on, but because they are wider the RR’s cause a track width violation. Wheels were in the same place as before, it’s just that the RR tirewalls bulge out some. It’s easily visible to the eye. This would make my 12mm spacers with Koenig’s illegal all the sudden too. Give me a couple days and I’ll write up a rule change request.

Why don’t you just adhere to the rule as apposed to changing it?

There are wheels and spacer combos that will be legal.

Interesting note however… I will be checking track width before Road A, which hadn’t occurred to me before said DQ.

Michael, I agree and disagree. In my case (and others?) I purchased big offset wheels that I’ll now have to stagger with little offset wheels, blah, blah, blah.

So, for those that have spent money for this low cost series…well I hope the rules change request is done.

We’ll see how long that takes (if ever), until then stagger and check the width.

As the Inaugural Track Width Disqualification Award Winner (2011), I agree that the rule is the rule and the DQ is what it is.

However, having purchased a bunch of spacers and knowing how expensive that can be to have all possible combinations to get the last mm out of the rule allowance, I think a rule change to compensate for the added width of the RR is the best thing for the low cost guys. Run the same tire and spacer combination as last year, everyone is happy. Just don’t make the allowance too generous or Eric’s wheel bearing budget will go up from the extra load.

leave the rule and adjust your spacing. It does not have to cost much to thin down a pair of spacers. My car came in dead on because i had made a small leeway to avoid a Devinney style DQ. It just happened to be enough to make up for the new tire width. If your going to run that close to the rule limit you need to remeasure and adjust.
