Who is coming to South Carolina in Feb?

#1

So, who’s coming to South Cakalaka for the season opener? I’ll be debuting my new SE30, which is being lovingly attended to by David Walsh, Jr., and I’m looking forward to a great time!

#2

I’ll be there. You bringing a girlfriend for me to hang out with?

Fabeny, Colin 1991 BMW 325is Blue
Espinosa, Sandro 1991 BMW 325i Blue
WALSH, DAVID 1990 bmw 325 White/Or E30
Smith, Sumpter 1988 BMW 325IS WHITE E30
Lako, Steven 1989 BMW 325i gray/ora E30

Am not sure why I’m not on the official list.

Back in Dec, during the “discount sign up” period I signed up for most of the year. Except that it seems now that I didn’t. I guess there was some kind of problem with the transaction and it didn’t go thru. I failed to watch for the receipt email, so doom on me. That’s going to make the year a bit more expensive. Bummer.

So, where’s the SmackTalk that SE used to be known for?

So many questions: Who is coming, who did major work on their car over the winter, who is planning to run for season points, who is going to figure out the RRs the quickest?

Come to CMP in two weeks and find out!

#5

TPR plans to go. Eric and I are looking forward to testing the performance of shaved RR’s.
TPR plans to go. Eric and I are looking forward to testing the performance of shaved RR’s.
This was discussed a few months ago. Nobody is going to shave RRs, you silly! We’re just buddies here.

#7

I will be there in my Walsh/Lako team car, and I’m going to run away from you fools. Shave an RR? Did I miss something? I thought the RR was a slick?

#8

PS I’m also going to drink like a moron.

#9

Both my son and I will be there but we will be watching from HPDE. Maybe later in the year.

Scott, nice to see you back in an e30!

#10

I’ll be there - hopefully testing out the Pink Panther II… (Lapping BigKeyserSoze so he’ll have something to babble about Saturday night…) :woohoo:

#11

Jimbo, get real. You’d have a hard time getting by me once in your AIX mustang. You could run a SpecE30 at 2400 pounds and I guarantee you’d still lose.

#12

I really really hate to miss this…but do not think there is any way. Just the thought of McKay turned loose with the L/W boys is worth going.

Al

#13

Come on Al. I’ll make it exciting and worth your while.

#14

I remember the last time the BigKeesterSoak came up to CMP and it was a blast. You gonna bet anyone you can out quali them by 3sec this time? That was a lot of fun kicking your ass all around the track. I wish I didn’t already have plans next weekend!

No equipment excuses

[b]Group /b Three (guys with hangovers, lots of aggression and big checkbooks) Racing.

I wish I were going to be there for Keyster’s (re)debut.

The price of fenders on the used E30 market just went up.

The cold weather will curb the beer drinking, so I’ll need to find something to get lit on so I can make stupid bets. I’m thinking of getting lit on Chardonnay or something. Maybe some of you remember VIR about 3 years ago where I was totally lit on Jack and Coke and was making $2,000 bets to podium if I rented the Pink Panther. I’m planning more of that kind of behavior.

And, even better than a big checkbook is having the car supported so that someone else has to do the work. Perfecto! Check that mirror before you turn in, because I might be still coming, at a million, crossed up, late to the turn in. Think twice before turning in. Ever.

Fred, we’ve identified the pilot of the UFO. Case is now closed.

Yep, I’m hoping Turn 1 at CMP is VERY quiet this weekend.

Since it’s the first event of the year, be emotionally prepared to deal with hassles. That is to say, have your car ready to go because doing all the extra stuff Saturday morning will mean you won’t have time to do that engine swap that you were saving for the paddock.

All of our comp licenses expired 31Dec. If you diligently renewed your comp license in early Jan, your NASA membership probably lapsed yesterday.

Tech form is here http://www.nasaproracing.com/forms/annual_race_tech.pdf Tech costs $100. Might want to beat the rush and get it done Friday 4-7PM.
SFI Harness 2yrs, FIA harness 5yrs.
Window net must show date and be <5yrs old.
Seats with no (or expired) FIA decal need a brace.
Check kill switch and battery hold-down.
Kill switch and fire ext/system E decals are mandatory. Tech oftens has decals for sale. Unless you need one.
NASA patches on driver suits are required. SpecE30 patches are recommended. Mostly because I pocket >$2 on each one.
If you put anti-freeze in coolant for Winter, it’s time to flush.

For some reason I couldn’t get to the latest version of the NASA CCR, so if there’s anything new and egregious, it will surprise us both.

For those that are unaware, you can “Reserve” your car # by filling out a form and paying $50. Your number needs to be unique in Lightning in the SE. Formally reserving your # means if some other goof shows up in Lighting wearing your number, he loses.

Our parking area is near the bathrooms/false grid. I should be on site early Friday morning and will attempt to keep interlopers out of our parking area. If we have newbies racing for the first time I’ll be available Friday afternoon to drink your beer and cheerfully mock you re. your newby status.
