I’m finishing my swap project. Last night I had everythign hooked up and I turn the key and I hear a click and the engine turns slowly (no firing) and I hear a whirring (zrrrrrrrrr) and then nothing. I’m pretty sure the battery is toast, but does this sound like a bad starter? I also used a battery tender with a start assist and nothing better happened. Any ideas?

Tried a different starter and this one doesn’t whhhrrrrrrr, but the starter motor just spins without making contact. I’m guessing the solenoid isn’t engaging the gears to make contact with the flywheel. Keep checking my own replies for my progress.

Are you sure all the connections are right? Everything getting 12V? If the big wire to the starter isn’t making good contact, then you could have a problem.
