which ECU?

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on my last couple of posts regarding my recent ingition problems. I picked up another e30 at Roebling Saturday, and swapped the ECU out of it into my car and it fired right up. The question I have is that after searching the fourms I am still unclear which ECU has the top speed governor. The one that crapped out in my car was a 173 and did not, and the one I swapped to is a 525. I already ordered another 173, will the 525 work as a spare or is it top speed governed?

the 525 was what I was running at RRR on Saturday. It was hitting the speed limiter at a tad over 125mph. I also noticed I was getting pulled on the early section of the front straight.

Rev. Al was kind enough to let me use his spare 173 on Sunday. I never hit the speed limiter and was hitting 130+ before braking. I was also able to hang with most cars on the straight even getting in a pass or 2.

the 525 may not be bad at some tracks. But RRR isn’t a place you want a speed limiter.

Good to know that’s what I thought I just could not get it clear.

So does any one want to buy a used working 525 ECU :whistle:

Maybe the 525 can be the official Spec E30 rewards weight. I think the top three at Nationals need to use this ECU for next season.
