I’m looking to replace all my bushings with stiffer material. I found AKG Motorsports has some, like an aluminum diff bushing and aluminum rear subframe bushings. They’ve also got aluminum engine and tranny mounts. But as for the rest of them, where can I find aluminum, or at least delrin?
Where to Find Bushings
Check the links page under Spec E30 vendors. Most of them have what you are looking for.
For what it’s worth, I was warned away from aluminum diff and rear sub-frame bushings. Difficult to install correctly.
I ended up with the 75D Polyurethane bushings. The sub-frame and diff bushings installed relatively easily but the trailing arm bushings were a bear. I don’t want to think about what it would have been like with aluminum.

Aluminum is perfectly legal for a suspension bushing. It is not legal for an engine mount.

Yeah I took it as aluminum is legal for suspension and subframe. What about the differential?
Glad you pointed out the engine mount. Thanks. I went back to check the rules and caught no solid engine/tranny mounts.
I checked the links page vendors for aluminum bushings, and some others, but haven’t found everything.
Seeing how hard Delrin is, would that be considered solid, or does solid exclusively mean metal?
My bad - I had translated the motor mounts to all of the bushings in my head… Sorry about that!
I used our track grade poly in my diff mount because I’ve seen the covers crack several times. I have aluminum Subframe bushings.
Delrin is just as hard as aluminum. I suppose it’s bit of a grey area in the rules, delrin is considered legal by most but it functionally is a solid mount in regards to the engine/trans.
I would like someone to clarify if Delrin is considered a solid bushing or non-solid. Should I use an aluminum diff bushing or Delrin?

Here’s an old thread that discusses the solid vs not interpretation:

It doesn’t mention Delrin specifically but it seems to imply that almost anything except steel and aluminum are ok. What it does clearly state though is that Polyurethane is legal. IMHO, your best bet would be the 75D Poly mounts, which are reasonably close to Delrin in stiffness.
