Where to buy a Spec E30 car?

#1

Hello All!

I’ve been toying with idea of getting into Spec racing. I live about an hour from Road Atlanta and I have always wanted to race cars. I’ve done several Google searches and looked at the classified section here but I haven’t found any Spec E30 cars for sale. I would prefer a car that was already race-prepped as I am a bit limited on time and equipment. I live in Athens, GA. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to look for a car?

Thanks,

Andy

Andy -

I would recommend coming to Road Atlanta on March 14-15. There will be upwards of 15-20 SE30’s to look at there. And 15-20 guys (and gals) who would be happy to tell you what they like and don’t like about their cars. Seemingly small stuff like whether the cage downtubes go in front of the dash or up by the firewall make a world of difference when you are trying to chase an electrical problem and want to take out the dash.

You will see a variety of cages and safety equipment (for me, the most important parts of the car) - not to mention the overall prep level. Picking up some do’s and don’ts may make your search for a car harder because you will be pickier, but you will be happier in the end.

PS - Or just offer MikeSkeen.com $20k for his championship winning car.

PPS - I don’t know if he would sell it. Or sell it for that price. But I’d say it is worth it.

I’ll be there. A friend of mine has an E30 that he will be racing. He is just getting into the sport and found his car on Ebay. I’ve not been able to find anything when I looked.

Thanks,

Andy
