Where get a tow strap?

#1

The version that most of us have is sold by BW and Turner. Both are apparently out. Oddly, Turner says that BMW is preventing the tow strap from coming to us. That’s a little hard to understand but be that as it may, I need a tow strap. Ideas?

I busted my tow strap pulling my bumper out after hitting the wall at RA last week.

I have heard of some folks using some kind of rock climbing loops that are designed for crazy high loads (called runners?).

Lol. Well I do have my old rappelling harness, now that you mention it.

Try this!

I use a short axle strap on the front and back as tow straps. That works on a diving board car, but may not on a plastic bumper car.

Ranger - I have this one.

Thx, but I’m hoping to get the style that wraps around the bumper shock.

I’d a just had someone sew mine back together but I figure that the strapping is probably tired and that’s why it failed.

That’s not a bad idea. If I can’t find the strap type I want, I’ll use your idea. I’ve a couple spare short axle straps.

If you look at the top strap with loop or ring and the heavy duty ones you can remove the mounting plate and use the strap to wrap around the factory tow hook or shock then weave it back through the strap slide and adjust it to the length you want.

I went with those after going through a couple of the MotorSports straps. A pull from pea gravel took the first one out. I suspect that the bumper would come off before the wheel straps let go.

That is what I did. I got the I/O port with bolt in mounts and simply removed the mounts and wrapped it around the front and rear tow hook just like you would with your shoulder harnesses on the roll cage:

Ranger, I have an extra BW strap (new) that I don’t need.
