Who can tell me to process and timing on getting a car number as an incoming rookie? Will be a CMP for first-time race car tech and hopfully race first event on Sunday. Will the number be assigned then? And I just use tape or something for the weekend? Or can I find out the number ahead of time and get proper ones made?

You can reserve the number (a year at a time) for a small fee with NASA-SE. It’s only good in the southeast region as a guarantee. It’s not absolutely necessary, because they handle car numbers on a seniority basis which means as long as its a number no-one else is using, you can potentially claim it as your own. I can’t remember how much it is, but there is more inforamtion about it at:
Depends on the region. Numbers are not assigned, they are selected by the driver. In the MA region, you can reserve a number as long as it is not reserved already. The list is here: http://www.nasaracing.net/NASA_CAR_NUMBERS_2006_v5.xls

I had requested the number 74 last May and it doesn’t appear to be reserved on the list for me. Can you make this happen?
