Wheel offset

#1

I found a set of Team Dynamics wheels for sale used that could save me some money, but apparently they have a slightly different offset than the version offered by BimmerWorld (30mm vs. 25mm). This means the BW wheels would offer a 10mm wider track. Do you think the difference would be noticeable? I assume rubbing isn’t a problem with the 205s, considering some people run 225s, correct?

You could run a 5mm spacer on 30mm offset wheels and be right at the stock offset.

It’s tuff to say if you would notice a difference or not, but you are allowed to run spacers. But that might bring you right back up to the price of the BW wheels.

Mike,

How much are they for sale for??? I have a set of four 13 Team Dynamic Wheels that I may be selling off. They’re the proper E30 offset. I’m not going to give them away, but they are used you’re interested. They were the street wheels for my car. If you’re down for XM in December, no shipping would be involved.

E-mail me off line kchildre@mindspring.com or give me a call 678-640-9535 if you want.

Well, the seller agreed to throw in spacers and knock the price down a bit, so I’ll go ahead and get them.

Kelly, I may still be interested in your set so I have two good sets plus stockers for rain, or something like that. I’ll drop you a line here shortly.

the original spec e30 rules mandated a specific track width and Bimmerworld had the 25mm offset TD wheels made specifically for us. I believe the stock 14x6 bottlecaps are 35mm offset.

Now we are unrestricted on track width, and I suspect you could fit below a 20mm offset. Anybody with real world experience as to how low you can go?
cheers,
bruce

Well, I’ve run both 205 and 225 ra-1’s on et 15 wheels with no problems. And, though not exactly the spec setup, I ran 15x8 et 12 with 225/45/15 hoosiers this last weekend. 225 hoosiers are wider than 245 PS2’s - this is A LOT of tire for an e30. Point being, though, that Bruce is correct about being able to get by with some pretty low offsets.

Here is a link to someone with 15x8, et 0:

interesting, but don’t think I want to go quite that far out.

Carter, can we please have 15x8’s so we can stretch our 205’s onto them? :stuck_out_tongue:
