Well, I had a setback . . .

#1

At Putnam Saturday - running HPDE3. I was piecing together some decent laps and then it happened - an ugly knocking sound.

After hoping it was just a broken rocker, we diagnosed it as a rod.

Hopefully the head is ok. I have found a bottome ned locally that I will checkout tomorrow. If it looks good, I’ll freshen it up, and then eventually get the old rat up and running again.

This shouldn’t put off my plans for comp school next spring, I hope.

Grrr . . .

That sucks Dave, we aren’t exactly breaking any records for getting our cars on the track

Checked out the replacement block today - looks damn good - very low mileage engine car that began its life as an auto.

I am picking it up later this week and taking it to my shop guy to have him check it out and see if it can go in as is or if it needs to be overbored within spec.

Fingers crossed, I’ll be back up and running well before my next scheduled track event.

I think I am staying away from Putnam for a while - the place has it in for me. Last spring I had to get towed all the way home on Easter Sunday after the Rites O’ Spring school.
