Title says it all.
Those who have gone down the path already, how did you achieve minimum weight? What did your cage add back in? Other than cleanliness, I’m wondering how necessary it is to remove the sound deadener crap or if there are enough other things that can be culled (by the rules, of course) to achieve ideal weight.
Weight: what can be logically removed?
I pulled everything that’s listed in the Rules and left the tar in the trunk. To make weight (with no ballast) I have to start the race with the fuel tank about 2/3 full.

i just got off the scales about an hour ago and with the spare tire in I need to add 39lbs. All the sound deadning is gone in my car, including the trunk and the doors have the glass and mechanisms removed. The dash is intact except for the radio and all of the glove box. I also run no passenger seat. i weigh about 225 though so take that into consideration.
I’d focus on up high and forward first.
Leave stuff towards the rear and lower…even though it is tempting.
Get the car done, weigh and scale it then start removing more stuff.
I removed the entire interior, A/C components, heavy trunk lining. I have a passenger seat, full roll cage, fire bottle, and with the spare tire and full tank I come in at 2800#. I weight about 175 fully suited up. If I had known that the car would be underweight I would have left the heavy trunk material in (weighs about 40#) and leave in the spare tire to get more weight to the rear. At some point I will take out the passenger seat and have to add some ballast to make min. weight.

[quote]Ken,
Is 2800# a typo? How is 2800# over weight?

Sasha,
The minimum weight is 2750# with driver. I’m not really that much over weight maybe 20# if I start a race with a full tank. If I want to cut it close I can start with less gas or leave out the spare tire but at this point I don’t think a couple of pounds is going to affect my finishing position. What I need is more racing experience.
