weight distribution

#1

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about distributing weight using spring pads. Can someone explain this? I’ve heard 2 different theories that contradict each other.

My right rear weight is almost 180lbs lighter than left front.

Thanks for any info.

Right rear will always be light. Cross weights are what you’re shooting for getting 50/50.

Distributing weight via spring pads is a corner weighting issue, not a F/R issue. Go put your car on a scale and take a bunch of measurements with ballest in various places. Then put all the info into a corner weight calculator (Google it) and see how good you can get your cornerweights. Ideal is under 10lbs of “Wedge”, IIRC. You can probably accomplish this w/o spring pads unless you’re a big guy and therefore can’t add ballast.

Don’t orient on “right rear” vs. “left front”. Use the calculator.

PS - I’ve heard some Racer X types put the pads in the oven on low heat to take some squishy out of them.
