VIR Results?

#1

Brandon and I had to exit after qualifying session before the results were posted. Could someone post the Autobahn Sunday qualifying and race results sheet or fax a copy to 336-728-7511. Thanks.

I hope the rains went away as it was starting to pour just as I was leaving and hour before race time.

Any reports from those in attendance?
10 lap sprint races like the NASCAR guys at Indy?

Don’t quote these as offical results but as I recall on SAturday it went:

  1. M.Skeen
  2. S. Bennett
  3. C.Cobetto
  4. C.Hunt
  5. C.Goldwaith
  6. R. Allen
  7. B.Smith
  8. S.Ferguson
    … and others!

First three sorted out to 1-2 second gap between then another 3-5 seconds between 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6th. Closest racing was for 6-9th. For 3-4 laps it was nose to tail with D Herrington leading, Smith, Allen and Ferguson. Finally Herrington (feeling the heat) went off exiting turn 1 and allowed the next three to get bye. Later Allen got bye Smith.

All very clean racing with little/no contact.

Sunday was:

  1. Skeen
  2. S. Bennett
  3. M. Davidson?
  4. Cobetto?
    …don’t have any sheets

Rained before the stinger race, but quit and dried out for Autobahn (us). Several new racers had successful weekends as far as I could tell. Little to no contact all weekend, great racing. One incident on Sunday with a 944 (his fault) caused the only SE30 casualty that I know of.

I think Cobetto beat out Davidson on Sun.
My Sunday race with Carlton was even more exciting than saturday. I was told by a few wise racers in the paddock that the seceret to passing the green car is patience…
I followed him for several laps saving tires and watching his go away. Then I started to put the pressure on with ~4 to go. It seemed to work. He mis-shifted on the front straight. Once I got by I overdrove a little but he overdrove more and spun in 5. Cruised home in 5th.

Mike D has a second set of eyes in his rear bumper at the start… I think he clipped my tow hook:ohmy: .
Also, oaktree on lap 1 is nuts!

My dad took some great pics of most SE30’s. I’ll post them soon.

Unrelated: For those of you who haven’t seen the setup promo on mike’s site, it is badass… in a kimi raikkonen way. I want a movie about me too:angry:

Here’s my video page: http://mikeskeen.com/media_video.html. Unfortunately, I’m having trouble keeping the new camera from vibrating, so I only put up the first two laps of Saturday’s race. Didn’t get any footage from yesterday, which is really disappointing because Skip and I had a great race.

Mike, what did you put on your site? What is in that movie? My Company’s web filter has blocked you.

Your organization’s Internet use policy restricts access to this web page at this time.
Reason:
The Websense category “Sex” is filtered.

Weird. What filter is that? I need to see if there’s a way to clear this because I’ve heard of one other filter blocking my site as well.

The movie is just clips from the show Setup.

I was one who couldnt watch the show without falling asleep or smashing the tv but that clip is pretty awesome.

Here are some really good photos from VIR: http://s326.photobucket.com/albums/k432/allenr00/
I think my Dad got most of the cars but if you aren’t included or you want to see more of yourself let me know.

Great pictures. Tell your Dad “Thanks.”

I want to tell the group (21 cars-strong) that the VIR weekend was great. We had some close racing throughout the field and as was said earlier, very few issues.

I wish I could have been there Sunday but my kids won’t be going to camp many more times and I didn’t want to miss taking them.

And once again, the group showed why we have a winning formula in Spec E30 and I want to thank all the drivers, old and new, and NASA, for such a fun time at the track.
