VIR report/Scuderia Gonzo ALonzo

I ran the mid atl race last weekend at VIR, dont know who finished where…One of the remarkable things was at least 3 cracked oil pans in the Sunday race. I think everyone had a good time, a few people got into the 2.19’s, I was able to lower my lap times every session and did a 2.22 on some of Indy Jims old Nitto’s in the Sunday 1 hour fun race. There was a ton of e30 DE cars and close to ready SE30 cars there. the Hall’s were there instrucing and I think they did a little partying. The hospitality was pretty good as of course I showed up with no jack or tire gauge and was helped out by just about everyone dealing with oil filter, alignment, brake issues. I had some pretty good dices, got to do some bump drafting, one of the best things was seeing Tom the p-car racer who was renting a SE30 get a full dose of MA competitiveness, by the last race Sunday he was really catching on.

It was really nice to drive 4 miles to the track to race…

Did they have a tent? Was it nice?

Sounds like fun.

Why all the broken oil pans? Offs?

“It was really nice to drive 4 miles to the track to race…” Every racers envy.

Don, I wore a hole in my Factory 3 skid pan when I raced at VIR in April. I cannot identify where the problem is (a specific turn), but it is likely caused by the off-road antics of the fast MA crowd. Cutting the corners through the uphill esses is a Spec E30 have-to-do.?!

I think turn 10? south bend at the end of the uphill S’s…at least that is where Carlton’s was…as I went off on his oil right before oaktree…Yes, folks were going straight over the curbs in both the lower and uphill S’s…gotta have a plate.
