I’m signed up as well.

I recall that the VIR paddock is usually a free-for-all, but is there any place the SE30 group tries to park together? Will probably be pulling in around 5ish Friday.

#5

try to park near the drivegear rig (black f350 w/ black two car hauler), that seems to be the de facto se30 base camp. i’ll probably be arriving fri late afternoon or early evening as well.

I will be there late Thursday/early Friday, one thing with this event, some of the UTCC guys will be heading out at the end of the day Friday and open up some paddock space. I will try to take up some extra space around Andrews rig…will be running GTS1 testing my 13 hour car.

Sounded like a fun weekend watching Facebook. Looking forward to recaps/video. Anyone know what happened in Spec3 on Sunday? The guy that won Saturday finished last. Just wondering if that was mechanical or “emotional” :S

great weekend, i think everyone finished cleanly today. i had good battles with sandro and zimmerman both days but AZ nipped me at the line each day. his COMBINED margin of victory was 0.05 sec. video to come.

Had an awesome weekend at VIR! Great to meet more of the SE30 group. I’m still learning the car and the track, but made some major progress this weekend, so I’m perfectly delighted with P8 and P9 finishes. (And that the car made it through a weekend unscathed)

Weather was wet off and on, but mostly dry for our sessions. The exception was qualifying on Saturday, which was delayed by a lightning storm and then when we went out, half the track was dry and sunny, and half the track was raining and wet.

In Spec3, P1 was rear ended by P2 on Sunday. Lost the exhaust and was DNF. He had a heck of a drive on Saturday, though.

A great weekend at VIR, Thanks to Drivegear and the Hall’s for their hospitality. I ran in GTS1 and I think this weekends run group (66 cars!) was one of the best ever, did not see a Miata either days race…had fun racing the P cars and the spec e30’s, Got to bump draft Fred both days, Sunday it allowed me to catch up to the Porsche ahead of me in class. VIR is the easiest track on tires I have seen…was running 2007 RA1’s and was happy with my lap times.

After the first practice session on Saturday, I really had some deep regrets about making the 10+hr trip down. Car was having starting issues which led to it cutting off twice during practice. Not only that, it was down on power and with those issues and the rain in Oak Tree, I decided to park it for Saturday and try and sort out some bugs.
Sunday was a different story, somewhat.
Starting issue and cutting off I think I have cured, but the lack of power issue is still very much alive and well. I had many folks throw tons of info at me and we tried two new DME’s, a new AFM, new plug wires and no improvement could be found.
Since I was confident the car wouldn’t die mid pack and create a cluster f$%k, I decided to run on Sunday. Qualified 13th, went off in turn 1 early on, but hung tough to come home 11th. Even had a butt puckering moment courtesy of James Clay in a GTS 2 car, video of that to follow.
Thanks to Jason, Fred, Al and Chuck, Tom Hall and the rest of the Spec E30 guys lending a hand trying to get my car up to speed.
Turned out to be well worth the trip.
