VIR 10/12-13

#1

I know there is a 4 page thread on the topic, but the way it was dated in "November " has thrown mre off. Also plans do change.

Help out with the car/racer count for this event.Who is in?

Michael Harness
Scott Gress
Ryan Whitenger
Julio and Eric Palacio
Sandro

Is the above correct?
Others?

I may come up to watch.

Regards, RP

Due to this being the ‘Beast of the East’ there are discussions of implementing the new HP rule for this event, as dynos are frequently on-site at VIR.

I for one would welcome this.

#5

I’m signed up for VIR.

I talked to Carter about the dyno rule the other week. How I understand the rule now is not quite how I understood it originally. It’s not like a hp/wt ratio class where you are required to have a dyno sheet in your log book. It’s more along the lines of our track width rule. You are responsible for having the right amount of track width. It’s not something that is going to be checked at each event and there’s no piece of paper in your logbook that attests to your track width. But when the day comes that your track width is checked, if it’s not right, you’re DQ’d. So when the day comes when your car is dyno’d, if your weight isn’t right for the dyno result, you’re DQ’d.

I intend to dyno my car at VIR. It’s a permanent fixture at VIR, so there’s no uncertainty about it being there. If a bunch of folks commit to it, I bet we can get a reduced price.

Ranger, the VIR house dyno is not the spec dyno. You’re better off getting dynoed by the mobile dyno that is owned by Mike Rossini. That way you’ll be testing w/ the correct dyno per the spec rules.

#7

What does “the spec dyno” mean? Are you saying the VIR house dyno is not a Dynojet? I thought that it was, no?

#8

I’m not sure why NASA would bring an outside person to haul a mobile dyno to VIR then.

#9

I have confirmed that VIR’s house dyno is not a DynoJet.
The mobile dyno that Rossini brings is. Use that one, if you’re so inclined.

#10

Good call, thanks.

#11

in.

#13

Jay, Mark ang Yo will be there. And I will also welcome the hp rule.

#14

Sandro, Julio, Michael, Ryan, etc., when does the caravan leave from Atlanta?

Have a good race, represent the SE well, and I’ll keep a close watch for racing stories.

Be careful,

RP

#15

We’ll leave the Rd Atl area around 2pm. Wish you were coming Robert!

#16

We will be leaving Atlanta around 11:00am on Thursday. I have not seen a paddock map and was curious to where the E30 group usually parks. If we get there early enough, we can try our best to hold some spaces.

Hate to hear you won’t be there Patton. We will do our best to represent SE!

#17

No chance on the paddock map, you want to be close to Andrew/drivegear who is usually dead in the middle of the paddock. It will be crowded, if you do not like the sand/pee gravel you can park on the row beside the pond which is usually the last row to fill up. Bathrooms are on either end, the best showers are at the top of thwe paddock

You guys have fun and be safe.

I’ll be flying out to San Francisco tomorrow to move the #40 car to the SouthEast. Early Friday we’ll leave the Pacific and hope to make it back to Alabama by Sunday.

Had a great weekend as always at VIR, great turn out and the competition was high! dang. But, our boy Eric killed it! so proud, walked the field both races on Saturday.
We should do more test and tune, Mark, Jay and I had a lot of fun battling it out Friday.
On the only dry race, Julio, Scott and I weren’t so lucky, here’s the video from the front and rear.
