Vibration Damper Removal

I noticed something interesting about the rules. You are allowed to remove the vibration damper, however doing so causes the crank sensor to no longer have a signal. :wink:

I think the vibration damper refered to is the one on the transmission output. Some of the earlier cars had a very inconvenient piece that covers the guibo, and makes removal of the driveshaft a huge pain. Not to mention that it rubs aftermarket shifter.

Ahh, yes, I made that thing explode at Pocono North last fall. I had to drive all the way home in 4th gear to keep the shift-selector rod from interfering with it. Once I got home and got the driveshaft out, I was able to rip the remains of that damper out with my bare hands.
