Towing Question

Towing Question ?
I want to tow a E30 4 wheels down (on the road).
Manual trans, will of course shift trans to neutral for towing.
Will use tow bar on front of E30, hope to save cost and required storage of a trailer. Will tow with vehicle sufficient to tow and stop the weight of the both vehicles. Will wire E30 for stop and turn lights.
Will this damage an open diff?
Will this damage a limited slip diff?
New to the forum & Spec E30.
Thanks in advance for replys!

It will do less damage to the drivetrain than if you drove the car to the track. I wouldn’t be too worried about it. The usual problem with towing like this is putting unecessary wear on a race suspension, but the SpecE30 suspension is soft enough where you won’t blow out the shocks that fast.

I think you will damage the transmission. Need to unbolt the drive shaft. Not sure where I remember this from…

I think I remember what you are thinking about… but I thought that was for automatic gearbox only???

My father-in-law used to pull cars - 4 wheels down behind his motor home. I would check with a local RV dealer - these guys know this stuff.

The Bentley says it’s OK. It was for automatics transmissions that the driveshaft needed to be removed.
