Torque vs HP

#1

OK first off, I have no way of posting my dyno numbers…

Here’s what I find interesting… My HP number is 151 @ 6000rpm and the curve looks good - steady rise.

My torque numbers seem a little low though - peak 143 @4700rpm. However, a great curve - very little drop in the dreaded 5K range.

A/F is in the 13s from 5800 rpm and gets richer to rev limiter.

This is a fresh motor with no time on it. I’m also running Brad Penn 20-50 and I’m sure that my oil temps were low at the time…

By the way, it was run on a Land & Sea dyno and was told it is very conservative. Standard Correction.

Any thoughts?

Improvements as it “loosens up”?

Thanks

Hey, I thought thsi was posted in the ENGINE forum… How did it end up here?

And you wonder why I can’t post dyno numbers - DOH

Send me the file and I’ll see if I can’t post it. Hopefully you can work the values on the chart such that it focuses on 3k-6200rpm and 12-15 A/F. Scott (at) Gress (dot) org

Its really hard to compare numbers across different dynos and environmental factors. The numbers are not terrible and sound like a normal functioning M20 motor. See how it runs at the next race and if you are still concerned try to get a few SE30’s on the same dyno. They you have apples to apples.

Take it to the industry standard Dynojet dyno and then ask for the dyno files. I have never even heard of a Land & Sea Dyno. The other standards are the Mustang, Dynapak, and Dyno Dynamics. As long as the curves and air fuel look good, then I wouldn’t worry about the peak numbers. They are only that, numbers. You also didn’t mention if these numbers were uncorrected or STD/SAE corrected.
