Toe plates for free

#1

Just had to one-up Ranger.

Toe plates for free: Go to your garage. Find a 6’ tape measure. With an assistant measure the toe of any axle by measuring from a tire groove to a tire groove.

My guess is that real race cars with slick tires need plates. I’m not saying that a se30 isn’t a real race car, but don’t over look the obvious.

Glad I could save you some money.

Seems like it would be tough to ensure you are actually measuring parallel lines front and back. It would be easy to be off 1/16" or 1/8".

PS - I admire your attempt to out-cheap Ranger, but that might be like trying to out-negative IndyJim.

Steve, really not hard on the parallel lines. If you have to be exact you measure up from the ground to tire side and mark with chalk. If the car is on the lift you use your parallel eyeballs.

ps the competition would be oh so fearful if I ever did anything precise. Likewise, I’d have no excuses if I did anything precise.
If the car is on the lift you use your parallel eyeballs.
I gotta give you a hard time for that one.

First, you can’t measure suspension settings with the car on the lift.

Second, you’re talking about using one of your two $5k lifts instead of some $50 toe plates??

The silly season doesn’t start for another week. Step away from the keyboard and have another slice of pumpkin pie (aka ballast)! :woohoo:

Re. can’t measure suspension settings on a lift. I tested this a while back. It’s in an old thread here somewhere.
