Tires for HPDEs?

#1

I need some advice on a brand of tire I can run on my 14" bottlecaps. I have one set of slicks mounted on 15" Koseis but I wanted a set of tires in case of rain. Should I just put street tires on the bottlecaps?

Thanks to the current freezing weather, I’m leaning towards keeping the BFG g-force T/A all-weather.

I run Yoko ES100’s in the wet and dry. They seem to work pretty well (I’m a rookie). I ran the bottle caps up until last weekend, when I switched to 15’s and a racier suspension.

Ditto on the full tread RA1’s.
Ya can’t go wrong.

The full tread RA-1s were my first thought but man the price! I guess you could say I don’t have the "scratch" for them.

RA-1’s. May as well learn to drive on them since that’s what you’ll have to use eventually. I run full treads, one set, too poor to afford multiples/shaved sets right now. Once these are worn down a bit they become the primary tires and I’ll cycle in a new set for rains.

Dave and I have had very good experiences with the Kuhmo ECSTA MX tire. He has 4 DE weekends and many road miles on his and they are still in use. He has the blue e28 you saw at CMP and will see at the Rock. I switched to them for VIR with BMW CCA in Mar and like them. I think they’re $80 each at Tire Rack.

I don’t think the MX comes in a 14" size, and you need them for your bottlecaps, so these RS-2’s are the best 14" non-R compound i’ve found for my old ACR neon.
